The recent coverage of the gymnastics and cycling world championships was somewhat hit and miss, probably not helped by them running on the same dates. It did all run on the red button and iPlayer (though with one stream on TV Final Score usually takes priority on Saturday afternoons) but the TV broadcasts seemed fairly random - a couple of afternoon highlights show of the gymnastics then the last couple of days covered in a single show on the Sunday, and cycling started out on the red button, had one night on BBC4 and then nothing till the Sunday afternoon on BBC2.
New graphics for the Autumn Nations series rather than continuing to use the ones introduced last year for the Autumn Nations Cup and also used by the home unions in the summer.
Wow, that’s massive news. One of the best sports presenters on TV.
But Soccer Saturday as a phenomenon was finished by the double blow, one self inflicted by Sky in removing Thompson, le Tissier, and Nichols in one go, and the other by Covid moving nearly all PL matches out of 3pm for a while. No doubt it will continue with Julian Warren at the helm but it’s just lost it’s shine really.
As for the rugby, those Nations Cup graphics deserved better than to get a few outings out and then be junked.
Not a fan of the new graphics really other than ditching the unnecessary logos off the scorebar, but the new one is probably just as big anyway.
As for Jeff Stelling - the writing was on the wall as soon as most of his colleagues were axed and I don't think he kept how he felt about that a secret. I suspect he's only stuck it out longer due to being in contract, and sadly suspect it works in Sky's favour too - he'll probably be replaced by a random Sky Sports News host paid at a significantly lower rate.
Doesn’t seem like ROI viewers get the wrap around coverage for the Amazon rugby - just an aerial shot of the Principality Stadium until about 5 minutes before the anthems. Wonder why that is.

AZPV coverage of WAL-NZL (in English) having difficulties streaming today. Numerous Tweets and I can sympathise, had difficulties myself. Nowhere near as good as we've had previously. Would appreciate an explanation, none will be forthcoming from AZPV though.
Yes, first half was fine for me but then it started jumping about, fast forwarding/rewinding and freezing in the early part of the second half. Then something went wrong with the scoreboard and it kepts getting more and more points added.

Due to COP26, Sportscene Results has been dropped this week and next (presumably due to the studio or gallery being used). Saturday's Sportscene was also presnted onsite at Pittodrie rather than from the stduio. That also saw a rare doubling-up with Jonathan Sutherland presenting Sportscene and reporting for Final Score.
Sportscene was also without punditry. Unusually a co-commentator on the opening match, Aberdeen v. Hearts, even though to even my inexpert ear Steven Thompson sounded very off-tube. (PS: Ithink all Sportscene commentaries are still off-tube?)

Oddly had the same issue with the rewinding at the start of the first half rather than the second. The Wales match was moments from kicking off, then the blue buffering circle appeared and the feed went back to the referee being introduced and couldn't be fast forwarded any more live. Also in the Scotland match I tried streaming something else briefly and at the same time the picture quality on Prime worsened - can't remember happening before when using Prime or any other streaming on this WiFi.
Feels like streaming issues are more of a lottery than traditional TV unfortunately. And is it just me but it's like there's less acceptance/more annoyance with streaming not working?

Maybe they'll be a template for new Six Nations graphics which I assume we could get next year? Start of a new rights cycle seems opportune even if the rebranding of the competition twice in the last five years and the graphics package looking their age should have been justifable and opportune moments to refresh things too. There's something about some elements of the new package which I feel makes them look second rate. Like the scoreboard though, in fact most of the in-match graphics are quite clear and good. Possibly, like the BBC Sport scoreboard and others that use vertical lines of colour, it could have a thicker line to indicate the team's colours to make that be a bit more visible?
In terms of their coverage itself, excellent as ever from Prime.
Not a huge fan of the time display on the Amazon coverage - looked rather basic and a cheap font (maybe even Ariel?).
Would also be handy to have a time counter on the yellow card, which some but not all broadcasters do these days.
The visual feed was carried by Sky in NZ, who laid their own commentary over the top - as they are unable to get broadcasters back into NZ.
Usually they get provided a clean feed from the host broadcaster too.
