S4C are showing a few hours of build up to the World Cup (Play Off) Final on Sunday including reruns of matches against Italy in 2002 and Belgium in 1993.
I guess if Wales do qualify it may be the first time S4C show the World Cup?

Channel 4's trailer for the England match has a caption stating that it's not available in the RoI.
I'm not quite sure how they're going to manage that as they don't have a dedicated Ireland version of C4 at 28.2e, so I assume Sky Ireland customers get the NI advertising region version. I guess they would be able to instruct Virgin Media Ireland to take the channel off air for the duration on cable (assuming they take a satellite feed rather than as direct feed from RedBee).
Obviously anyone with an FTA satellite receiver or who knows about "add channels" will be able to watch from the RoI too. I guess it's just a token best efforts job to placate the RoI rights holder?

We'd have to confirm this with someone who lives in the RoI but they could be doing something like scrambling it for the duration of a game.
That’s not correct. They do have a dedicated ROI version of C4, with ROI advertising and all. This has been the case since C4 went on the ROI EPG I think. And it’s encrypted. Programmes have been blocked in the past on it, though I haven’t seen it happen in years.
And sure enough, tomorrow has “Programme Not Available” in the EPG on Channel 4 from 4:15pm-7:30pm and 9:45pm-10:45pm.
Of course it can be easily circumvented by turning in one of the U.K. versions in other channels. Some people may have done this already to get C4 in HD (the ROI version is SD only).
It looks like the coverage is also going to be blocked on cable. That is a first, C4 programme have never been blocked on that platform in the past.
Interestingly Premier Sports has no issue with broadcasting its coverage of Scotland, Wales, and NI to its ROI audience.
Isn't it Virgin Media who have the Irish rights to England games, so no doubt they're more than willing to help C4 block the games on their platform.
Guess this is technically C4's first "regional variation" since the ITV Schools days. A shame they can't do a bit more than just block the feed for the period - surely they can churn out a batch of Come Dine with Me during the match then Gogglebox during the highlights.
Looks like C4 are persisting with the ITV strategy of highlights not long after the game, which I've never quite understood but I'm guessing they have value. What's happening with the highlights of the other nations games - have the BBC retained them?
The England matches for tomorrow and Tuesday are still showing up on the EPG for Channel 4 on my Irish Virgin Media 360 box although it does say “Content not available in the ROI” in the programme blurb, so we’ll see what actually happens tomorrow. While there is an ROI version of Channel 4 SD, on Virgin Media we get Channel 4 HD as well which is the UK or I think more specifically the London feed of the channel.

ITV used to block their French Open tennis coverage on cable in ROI.
I was specifically referring to Channel 4 - but since you mention it, virtually all sport on ITV4 is or used to be blocked (with some honourable exceptions) on the Virgin Media platform, including the aforementioned tennis. It’s been many years since I last had VM (so long ago that it was still called UPC at that point) so I’m not sure to what extent that happens now.
Incidentally UTV, while it was still available (up until 31st December 2014) was never blocked, only ITV4. Yes that did create some oddities such as coverage of the same event being blocked on ITV4 but available on UTV, where coverage was being split between the two channels.
Channel 4 using UEFA’s opening titles and graphics for the their wraparound coverage. They’re pitchside with coverage.
Channel 4 is using the UEFA Nations League graphics including the titles for today's game of Hungary Vs England. Channel 4's team have Gareth Southgate pitchside for some of the build up of the game in Budapest.
I can confirm that Channel 4 is geo-blocked for the England game on Virgin Media Ireland on both Channel 4 HD and SD. To the best of my knowledge this has never happened before on Channel 4 on cable in the Republic of Ireland. The not available message on SD looks rather nice actually and has obviously been created by Channel 4 themselves. It says “Sorry the current programme is not available in your area. The message on HD is different and I presume has been created by Virgin Media.
