Is it a few years too early? Sky took exclusive rights in 2006 - I was 14 in that summer and am now 30. Emerging players now are in their late-teens and even established players (the likes of Root or Stokes) are roughly my age (if slightly older). I think this is exactly the time to query whether the talent pool has been made more shallow through the lack of FTA live cricket.

Exactly. And this is hardly the first white wash in Australia - if England lose the next two tests (and there has been little to suggest they won't) it would be the third white wash since 2006. England have only won once in Australia, in 2010/11, since the victory in 1986/7, so them being crap at cricket versus Australia in Australia can't really be blamed on Sky.
Indeed the ECB may be thankful this one is largely behind a paywall as the effect of the game being predominantly exclusive to pay-TV for so long is that the general public don't particularly care about the teams fortunes, win or lose.

It was more than Sky Sports News perhaps all sports channels as I was watching Sky Sports Main Event for the PDC Darts and during the last game the coverage went down for a couple of legs and switched to Sky Sports Darts and it was also down.

I got the live darts on SSN and prior to that, they showed a documentary on the England cricket team on tour in India in 1993.
Initially I thought it was a fire alert, but Sky News was still broadcasting as normal.
I think the cricket graphics during the ashes have been poor, they are dark, they don’t even tell you if it’s 1st innings or the 2nd innings until the summary graphic pops up, and bt sport seem to have delivered a weird colour scheme with whites and limey green, very strange.
Assume BBC Wales were supposed to be showing a URC game this afternoon as they're now showing a "Scrum V Classic" of Wales v Ireland in the 2005 Six Nations, complete with the Premier League goal flashes of the time. You'd think they'd have a clean copy.
Also a documentary series, Slammed, on the turn around of the fortunes of the Wales Rugby Team in the noughties, begins on Monday at 9pm.
And on a rugby note see Jill Douglas has been made an MBE in the New Years Honours for services to broadcasting.

Dragons v. Cardiff postponned due to COVID, along with Ulster v. Leinster which was supposed to be exclusively on Premier this evening. Both 17:15 URC kick-offs have survived, a bit unfortinate for the likes of Premier which show all the matches that the two matches that clash survived rather than two with seperate kick-offs.
Re Slammed, looks quite interesting, certainly plenty of ups and downs to cover! Three episodes stripped Monday to Wednesday, with Wales opting out of the three part drama on network. Nice to see too that Wales opting out of network for an hour long programme for achange, not something that happens that often. Trailer below:

After Discovery signed up PGA Golf rights from it seems it will not impact Sky Sports Golf according to this article from Sky.

BBC Sport seems to have taken a hit with Snooker this season with the departure of Colin Murray & Andy Goldstein on Eurosport as Radzi has signed up with them full time and so has the excellent Alan McManus and with Seema now on BT Sport and ITV it seems she has left the BBC Snooker team.
The Masters is only 2 games per day so doesn't need as many talent and Rob Walker can fill in highlights but for the Worlds the BBC should have Hazel & JV back but will need to add a couple of presenters and commentators for the earlier stages or use the likes of Judd Trump, Shaun Murphy & Jack Lisowski if they go out early.

Unsure as it was signed in 2018 and have seen various reports of any year between 2021-2023, presume Sky sublet from them anyway
