Having watched previous Grand Prix races on their channel, I know that they have alternated between the FIA world feed and their own cameras for presenter links/race control content. I don’t think they would usually go to an ad break if the race session is stopped unless the situation was quite serious.
They did carry on, although at the times went split screen with the FIA and their own cameras during the red flag.
They were half an hour behind going into Ted's Notebook at 18:30 so just dropped the fillers that were scheduled after it.

EDIT: this Cessna plane being used at Royal St George's.
It's a few years since I was at The Open, but I never saw a helicopter involved in the coverage. As you noted, two or three planes are normally used on Rota basis and a couple of unmanned remote airship / balloons.
Also the place is normally covered with numerous Bronto Skylift hoists, some of the highest available over 100m high and it takes the bravest of operators to be up on one of them...
Am I right in thinking Whisper produced both?

Nope, BBC Sport are producing their live cricket in-house, with Whisper doing the highlights programmes.

I think Whisper only produce the highlights programmes not the live matches.
Edit: beaten to it by the Steve Williams of Cricket Broadcasting.

I think that might be the best compliment I have ever been paid!!!

As eir Sport continues its long wind down, the second channel eir Sport 2 closes on Sky and eir TV today, already pulled from the Sky EPG but closing officially at midnight.
Eir Sport 1 was removed from the Northern Ireland EPG at the end of the GAA leagues last month. It continues in ROI as somewhat of a zombie channel carrying only repeats (and a small amount of MMA from the PFL). It will seemingly, according to some sources, last till the end of October, but no official announcement on that. Still charging any customers who are willing to pay!
Sky did the same thing when winding down analogue. They still charged the same even as channels closed on analogue, only stopped taking payments when they were all gone.
Holding back on the concpet of The Hundred, but the graphics are certainly different

Bit hard to understand for someone used to regular cricket graphics, not sure how the target audience of new viewers will find it.
They're better than the Olympic graphics I'd say (I know that's not saying much at all), at least they animate nicely and they haven't gone overboard with the pink and green.
The graphics are only visible if you’re watching a true 16:9 image on BBC Two HD.
Watching in SD and all the graphics are cut off the screen, including the BBC Sport DOG.
I can admire the desire to present a radical new way to present the scores, along with a new format. However they’ll need some quick tweaking, not great for safe areas and on the whole quite confusing. Took me a while to map out where to look for certain stats!
The side scores seem to be rising, they're using some screen real estate.

All visible on both HD and SD Freeview here.
I don’t get it tbh what is so exciting that’s it’s on bbc and Sky, is it Aimed at kids?
Just realised there's a BBC Sport DOG and the usual BBC DOG in the top-left of the screen on top of each other.
Few more, the scoreboard graphic, not keen on putting line through those who are out
It seems the sidebars are growing as the innings go on
