BBC Sport NI to stream 7 games from the League season in Gaelic Football and Hurling over January & February, I don't follow the sport good move BBC NI to get extra coverage on top of the Ulster Football Championship and someone can probably answer if this is the first time BBC has shown hurling.

He has changed his twitter handle now removing Sky Sports but that's probably because he is on ITV Sport & Channel 4 more now per year than Sky. No surprise to see him pick up work elsewhere as he is a great commentator.

All games on Saturday night so BBC One NI out of the question, surprised they didn't show on BBC Two NI but BBC Sport NI are showcasing a lot of rights online at present, they have a game nearly every week from the Irish Premiership and only 8 are due to be on TV, they also will only have 3-4 games from the Irish Cup on tv with others streamed and maybe they think with their Ulster Football Championship TV rights that streaming the league fixtures is the way to go.
Of course they stream NW200, NI Women's Matches, NI U21 matches, Ulster Women, NI Super Cup these last few years
Indeed, I suppose this deal is a bit slightly different in that while most of those things you mentioned are of mainly NI or Ulster interest, this one is an all-Ireland (though not The All-Ireland!) competition with ROI teams participating, and it comes in a year when thanks to the one of the primary rights holders going out of business there’ll be significantly less TV coverage. The GAA are directing ROI viewers who want to see the games to their pay per view GAAGO streaming service, of course.
On a separate note, great to see Miles Harrison back in the commentary box again. It’s a pity Sky are basically out of rugby now and his excellent partnership with Stuart Barnes appears to be at an end.

See what you mean, maybe it is a case of GAA prioritising the money side of things in the Republic of Ireland with the GAA Go service? It also suits BBC NI who as I indicated before seem to prefer the streaming option for the majority of their sports rights now.
Also is this the 1st time BBC NI has ever shown Hurling?
On another note I wonder if this will shut the critics of BBC NI up for not showing enough GAA especially Sinn Fein & SDLP who criticised BBC and UTV for not showing the All Ireland Final in 2021 involving Tyrone which neither broadcaster could show as Sky had the UK rights. Both of the political parties should have been expressing their anger at the GAA rather than the BBC or UTV.

Of that I am not sure; the Ulster GAA have long been allowed sell separate NI rights to the Ulster Senior Football Championship, but the Ulster Senior Hurling Championship is no longer played, so there is nothing for them to sell rights to - even when it was played it attracts very little national interest as the winner - invariably Antrim - didn’t qualify for the All Ireland series. The GAA sell U.K. rights for the All Ireland championship separately and Antrim, the only relatively strong hurling county in Ulster, plays its championship hurling in Leinster (or more usually nowadays in the second tier Joe McDonagh Cup).
At one point (pre 2014, I think) the Ulster Championship NI rights did include Ulster team games in the All Ireland series, but even then I think it was just football.

Pre Sky rights BBC NI and before them UTV used to show the Ulster teams in the All Ireland Series (Gaelic Football)
The brilliant KillianM2 channel on YouTube which has seen been deleted used to have quite a bit of BBC NI, UTV and RTE Sport coverage from all kinds of sports.
With no Premier League games this weekend does the blackout apply? Notice BBC2 have scheduled the African Cup of Nations 4pm kick-off from the beginning but Sky Sports have only scheduled it from 5.15pm.
