From what I've seen the match graphics are the same in Germany and what is used internationally, but Sky (like ZDF from below) have their DOG in the top right corner and the match graphics are in the top left. If i recall when I watched some Sky Germany coverage,the standard Sky Sports graphics are used outside of the match itself, ITV's England coverage would be good comparison (Sky example, DAZN DE example).

Are Sky doing anything with the Bundesliga matches they're not showing live? A regular feature of BT's Monday morning schedule was to show all the matches from the round in almost their entirety - they were in 90 minutes TX slots. Bit disappointing for BL fans if so.

We were spoiled last season when, without rights to Italian or Spanish games, BT showed almost all the games they could, including coverage of the 2:30 kick-offs without the Saturday blackout now back in force. In addition, they did have the odd game in 4K for those of us with BT Ultimate. It is strange that on Sunday Sky could be showing the Premier League game on two channels, and EFL repeats on the Sky Sports Football Channel, so the German matches were only available via the app, but at least they are available. Shows the limited appeal I guess.

Considering how the Sky channels are structured I don't see the benefit nowadays of having the rights to European leagues, other than weakening BT Sport. Between the PL, EFL and SFL they have most kick-off slots filled, and even though they may not be showing live coverage on both channels I think viewers have come to expect that. Maybe a third dedicated football channel would be a bit much but to do both the SFL and Bundesliga justice could be an argument for Sky Sports Football to be dedicated to those and then have an EFL branded channel for their content.

Monday evening highlights at 7pm it seems. Maybe this will be something Sky will bring in over time as the season gets going.

Out of interest, it does appear that this coming Sunday there is a live match (Bayern Munich v Köln) at 16:30 on Football plus a 17:30 on Saturday (Bayer Leverkusen v Borussia Mönchengladbach), but no Friday match.

Given they now have WSL to fit in somewhere as well, it could certainly make more sense to have a third football channel. As it stands, the new Saturday 12:30 (WSL) and 17:30 KO (Bundesliga) slots mean more EFL will have to be moved to Sundays.

Sky Sports broadcasting tonight's DFL-Supercup final in, uh, vertical video on the app. Plus in horizontal (I hope!) on Sky Sports Premier League - The Hundred is occupying Main Event + Mix and there is EFL on Football.

If only there was a way you could turn a handheld 9:16 screen into a 16:9 screen.

RTÉ2's coverage of AS Monaco FC vs FC Shakhtar Donetsk has a new background in place for the UEFA Champions League which include light purple/pink elements from it's official branding. RTÉ has it's virtual map back on the studio floor for these games since Prime Time had it's rebrand this year. They are still using the previous titles from the last rights cycle for now. They will switch to them when the group stages will be in place soon after the play-off titles have concluded.

The "mobile friendly" broadcast of the German Supercup is once again available for free on the Sky Sports website and app. An interesting experience thus far, the feed being without commentary one of the least weird things about it. It feels like the camera is following the ball far more than it would usual and subsuquently you miss the tactical/off the ball movements far more than normal (like you miss a lot of that on proper TV compared to being at the ground). I can't fully prove this but it looks like the main camera is further away (or more zoomed out) from the pitch. It's available here before full time if anybody wants to check it out and here are some desktop screenshots of the action:










Some other notes from German football is that tonight is the first night of DAZN becoming the primary broadcaster of the UEFA Champions League in Germany with secondary coverage on newcomers on Amazon Prime Video. Is there any other countries where two streaming services hold the rights to a major competition?
And from what I can gather the Bundesliga radio coverage available on the UK (on Amazon Speakers most recently) has vanished, so a further detiriation of German football coverage in the UK.

Champions League graphics seem to be more or less the same as before?

Hopefully 9:16 football lasts as long as 3D. That looks awful - like it's being filmed by someone in the stands on their phone.
