One of the interesting reminders there is that it only applies if 50% or more of the top two divisions are playing at that time. This does mean that there is a limit to how many games can be moved from that time - i.e. if the Premier League wanted all of its games televised and so moved them away from 3pm, the blackout couldn't happen, as fewer than half the top two leagues would be playing at 3pm Saturday (assuming at least one Championship game on TV).
So that's where the Paralympic commentary and back end production was done, although they seem to imply The Last Leg was there when we know it was done at the BT studios on the Olympic Park.
I suspect C4's Winter Paralympic coverage may be done on the ground again, or if not will mainly be out of vision as it's all overnight other than hockey and curling matches in the mornings, but if they do have a studio element presumably Leeds won't be an option as I suspect Packed Lunch will still be running, so this might be an option.

They might be others since then but I think ITV winning the premier highlights back in 2000 was probably the last big example. Have read in a book by Paul Armstrong ( who was an editor on match of the day and was working on the Euro 2000 coverage when the announcement of ITV winning them happened ) that ITV where gloating so much about it and the BBC and ITV having studios and offices next to each other was not helping that one member of the BBC team was very close to having a punch up with one of ITV pundits if you don’t know will let you figure out who the two where.

I do also sense the BBC/ITV relationship when it comes to sports rights is probably also moving to one to be more mutually beneficial. With them tending to work together more rather than bidding against each other. In the Six Nations, the BBC has shown they’re more than happy to let ITV have the commercially valuable England home rights, whilst the BBC for political reasons prefers to prioritise Scotland and Wales games. So trying to outbid ITV for these football rights doesn’t seem like a route they’d be desperate to go down.
I actually think a BBC/ITV bid for the Qualifiers is more of an outside bet, than the Beeb going for the England games. Leaving ITV the England games and the BBC the other nations games. They’d probably need to offload the rest to another broadcaster though.
A good point and could possibly happen but if the rights are cheap enough I think either could still potentially bid for exclusive rights.
They won’t be ‘cheap’ because ITV will still have a commercial incentive to put in a competitive bid in.
The audience is already covered by the Beeb and it’ll result in them having to give up something else.
Not previously reported here, is that the Hero CPL (carribean premier league cricket) tournament is on BT sport this year. It's been on, in recent years, Sky, Dave, BT Sport, Freesports, Premier Sports, and now BT Sport AGAIN. It's a wonder the tournament hasn't got dizzy!
I can see the draw for the world cup next year either having to be done before all teams are qualified or postponed from when it was due as I am not sure how the next few International breaks will go. What effect would either have on broadcasters?

it would have very little affect considering ITV have not bothered showing the draw for well over a decade and BBC give it the bare minimum of coverage on BBC Two usually going to it just as the teams are drawn and leaving once it’s done with a bit of presentation and half hour of discussion afterwards. As for picks it will just be the usual system of them deciding who wants the game more and risking losing certain matches for possible big ones.
I'd imagine now as things are it is highly likely Qatar 2022 will be hosted from UK studios (they may have been anyway) so other than ITV needing to sell ads short notice won't make too much difference.

I think that almost certainly be the case at least for the group stages. If England or another home nation get to the quarter finals I think Gary and Alan and whoever the other pundits will be flown out and possibly same with ITV but certainly both sides will only have the commentators and that might just be the home nations and selected other big matches and a few reporters though. Of course we don’t know what the covid situation will be at that point hopefully it will be sorted by then but they is always a high chance it could be bad enough to still need measures in place so that will also affect how the BBC and ITV do coverage.
Sky have signed up as shirt sponsor of the Republic of Ireland Women’s team. There’s no rights deal attached to this but it’s an interesting one in that I can’t remember Sky having ever sponsored a team before, though I know BT and Virgin Media both do so.

they sponsored anyone in football but for the past decade possibly longer have sponsored the British cycling team with them even been known as team Sky.
