A very messy audio start to McCoy & Phillips for the second day running. The microphone levels were all over the place for the handover & their opening.
The contributor they're talking to now seems to have someone desperate to get hold of him via Skype!
Derek - with respect Martin's pop at me (which completely missed my point about the Twitterati having enough ammo as a result of sub-GCSE production values alone) is what's landed him in TVLF Jail. Can you edit to leave just the salient points?

LiveU kit is incredibly easy to set up, and also as reliable as the cellular networks around. All the location reporters need to do is switch the device on and it automatically connects to the portal.
From there, someone in the gallery can start or stop the streaming, change bit rate etc. You can also fire back a clean feed and if needed, reverse vision and the cost is nothing compared to a full SNG.
The latest unit allows four cameras to be sent back at the same time, in sync, so they can be switched remotely or in an IP cloud interface.
Day two and although some of the technical difficulties seem to have been ironed out, I feel the number of presenters on screen at any one time is overkill. The constant quest to say the funniest quip is wearing a little thin already.
I had high hopes for this news service but i'm losing faith already.
I also don't like the GBN dog in the top left hand corner - it's far too bright and likely to cause some damage to my OLED tv with screen burn.... having said that It might not be a problem as currently can't stand more than couple of minutes a day of watching, but if the content and presenters settle down over the next few weeks I may give it another chance.
I wonder if there was a team change at 3 o'clock? Since then, everything has sounded echoey.

I would guess the gallery staff change when the presenters do.

They need to bring in someone from Global, ASAP. They know how to do video well, and I assume fairly cheaply. I know for example they have a Cuepilot type system on Chris Moyles etc where the system works out which mic has the peaks and cuts to their camera automatically.
I don’t know if it needs to be someone from Global but anything is better than what they’ve got.
I think they need a decent simplified studio with a couple of presentation areas designed by the likes of Jago (who have designed all the Global studios, at least in the past). And some really good TV people. London Live was good in terms of the studio direction, so it really shouldn’t be that difficult to work out.
I also wonder if the equipment they’ve invested in is too high end for a smaller broadcaster and team they’d have been better off with something a bit more user friendly and less complicated. I think London Live was using Blackmagic vision mixers, which is at the lower end but it all worked and the quality of the programmes seemed as if it could have been done by a BBC or ITV production team.

The job ads for the 'pilots' said that the intention was to switch between pilots every 30 minutes, presumably alternating between the two galleries, with one pilot preparing the next 30 minutes whilst the other is on-air.

Not surprised, an on location reporter talking about a bacon bap is setting the bar high. To think he was presenting the BBC News at One a few months ago.
It was said before launch that usually such channels would be rehearsed for months before going to air so when we do find out such things it'll be interesting to know how rushed to air it was in the end as so much hasn't been picked up and now they're operational with only the one main studio it is difficult to see how they fix in on the fly.
Obviously not uncommon at all for design flaws not to be picked up pre-launch and amendments to be made - the blinds on Daybreak Mk I for example and adding hints of colour to the view outside of Sky's glass box. I struggle to see what can be done quickly here though from an aesthetic rather than technical point of view. For me the whole black wall needs painting white for starters but they'd need at least a couple of days of the studio being free to do that.

If they took the weekend off and just looped pre-recorded output, that'd give them time to evaluate and make some tweaks to the sets.
