I have seen a lot of people online anger at GB News recently. I have the feeling so many people have felt let down by the channel, especially after Guto Harri's actions recently, which really angered their loyal viewer base.
Andrew Neil left for his holidays at the worst time. He should have remained there until at least August before venturing off on holidays. When you have the man whose idea for this channel was his in the first place, going off on holidays, it speaks volumes to viewers.

You are right in that it's not something that most people don't care about the story and it's mainly an online/newspaper thing.... so why has the channel that promised to give us the stories that affect ordinary people spent 4 weeks banging on about it? Sounds like they're swimming against the tide of ambivalence

The more cynical person would say it's a handy back up for of it all goes even more badly at GBN. I was surprised when she was announced as joining the channel, she's a good and competent presenter but had no current affairs experience.

I was quite surprised to see some folks getting excited over that on social media, especially as its a massive red-herring. The fact of the matter is All Perspectives Ltd owns the majority shareholding of GB News Ltd.
I’d imagine people online are getting excited as they’re suspecting he’s about to jump ship. Yes, it’s all speculation, but there’s no smoke without fire. The same applies to Kirsty and her new Smooth gig. Be in no doubt, the more experienced hosts will be drawing up their escape plans with their agents. (Or possibly being ordered to by their agents)
I’ve read through the posts on here. It’s interesting seeing forum members criticising Twitter and newspaper chatter, while simultaneously denying that GBNews is a sinking ship and defending it blindly.
It’s time to look at this without bias. The channel is a failure. It has failed technically and it has failed to engage with its target demographic. In fact, I often forget about it until I come on here and see the endless thread about it!
If you’re a bit right wing, or if you simply feel let down by the current media offering, I get it. I don’t entirely understand it as you really should be living your life and avoid getting highly strung about ITV News not reflecting your entire world view, but I get it. This channel will NOT be your answer. Yes, some of the critics are clearly rooting for its demise as they have opposing political and world views, but many are people like me - folk who have or currently work in media and knew this would be fail from the get go. Any newspaper, radio station or TV channel that promises to solve all your problems is no different to those awful products you see advertised on Facebook that are clearly a scam. The channel overhyped itself, driven by Andrew Neil. It had the potential to emphasise some of the excellent experienced journalists it had signed up and it half heartedly tried this as launch drew closer, but it’s obsession with single issue politics and cheap tabloid talk was never going to work.
It’s time to put it out of its misery. I’m sure it will stagger on for a few more months or maybe even years, but it’s already dead. We saw all of this in Canada with Sun News. Bad technical standards, bad presentation, bad topics. One by one, the ‘stars’ walked. The money also fizzled out and there were endless redundancies. It’s now over. The same fate awaits GBNews. We all know that. Some are just not prepared to accept it.

Yes and the only thing that's changed is the license has gone from one to the other, and that happened in June.
The only other change is that two of the directors of All Perspectives ceased to be owners of the company, but they were the two directors of GB News but that happened in April.
I think the other confusion is that he's been absent for over two weeks, whereas the story was that after two weeks on air he'd be off-air for 'a few weeks'

Completely agree with everything you said. The whole channel has just been a complete shambles from start to finish. I think about the only half-decent programme on there has been Alastair Stewart's, but that says much more about him than the channel - he's the type of presenter who would be engaging reading out the phone book.
It is a shame, because I do think it could have been really good - if it had focused on giving the news in a different style, with lots of fiery debate and discussion, as well as decent production values (think a sort of cross between Sky News and LBC) instead of harping on about taking the knee every bloody day - I reckon it could have worked. To put it simply: it needed fewer Dan Woottons and more Alastair Stewarts.
If - and that’s a big if - Andrew Neil has stepped down, surely the first sign would be them ditching his name from the 8pm programme in the EPG?
Where on earth did we get this whole 'Andrew Neil is stepping down' nonsense? It's merely a rumour, possibly created by someone on this forum or some random on Twitter as no-one outside of TVLF is talking about it.

Whilst it is purely a rumour, it has been spreading on Twitter for at least two days amongst "popular" users.
Being "popular" on Twitter usually doesn't mean they have more credibility than anyone else though.
It's also not been denied by Andrew, who is quite active on Twitter
