the 2m rule was reduced to 1m so thats what they are doing, legally they doing nothing wrong
It was 1m with mitigation (i.e. masks, facing away from each other etc.) which they're not doing. And they've still had plenty of people less than a metre apart regardless.

You say 'local paper' but that website is part of a big group and that sort of clickbait appears on all of them. Hence you'll often see nonsense stories about what someone said to someone on The Chase appear as local news
Dewberry is from Hull, so this actually IS local news, it's no surprise to see something about her on the Hull Daily Mail website.

It seems Andrew won't be back until September - so Colin will be there a long time, possibly with another as Colin takes summer leave.

Generally speaking it would be an insurance concern rather than a legal one. For example...
If their entire facility had to shut due to a COVID outbreak today and they couldn't go on-air tomorrow, would the insurance company be willing to refund advertisers knowing that GB News had not followed government guidelines over social distancing when the insurer was assuming they had? A company paying for spots with the understanding it would be during live programming rather than pre-recorded programming would want compensation, based on my experience.

As I understand it the rules are just guidance, there's nothing to enforce a company to have any social distancing policy. However companies do have a duty of care over their employees, they must make sure they are safe. This is the very basis of Health and Safety law, not just in covid times.
So it's up to the employer to do risk assessments and take precautions and also listen to their employees concerns. I think the HSE would only get involved if there was an incident that put someone at risk or a complaint from an employee

As far as I know, social distancing is not a legal requirement in any way - only advisory. Staff members at workplaces are also treated differently to, for example, customers in the same shop. A supermarket checkout operator, for example, is not required to wear a mask when serving customers.
What does apply is workplace health and safety. An employer is legally required to do everything necessary to ensure your wellbeing. That would include mitigating the risks of catching covid at work from a colleague or client/customer sharing the space. This might be through a combination of daily testing before being allowed in the building, requiring mask wearing, protective screens between workstations, social distancing, etc. None of the visually-obvious mitigations appear to be in place (everyone else at the very least has separated out their presenters, and eg Have I Got News For You has screens between the panellists) so I would assume they are mitigating it through daily testing. Whether that would be enough to satisfy HSE should someone catch covid from a colleague, AND whether someone working for GBN would actually file a complaint with HSE about it, remains to be seen...

Gogglebox seem to use the same rules, and they were mixing households when that was forbidden!
Worth noting that Love Island is currently running without social distancing. So there are clearly exception for television, although I assume they are under Spanish law which may be different?

It's more likely that the Islanders were quarantined for two weeks before being tested on a daily basis.
It's not as if Love Island could work with social distancing anyway. Of course a news channel can.
