So they had controversial gender critical figure Maya Forstater on. There was from what I heard no challenge to her views from the presenters.

This Nationwide segment is so technically poor its actually unwatchable!

I wonder if they'll take the Boris statement live later?

For those watching the stream in VLC, I've found pressing cmd-E / ctrl-E and increasing the gamma slightly helps.

I was surprised Liam referred to the incident with the workman again.

Liam in the studio just said "Abergavenny.. is that right?" (which is not that hard to pronounce is it). And the local reporter got a bit muddled and said "Agerbavenny".

The last 15 minutes have been well and truly painful to watch. They can't seem to cross to an OB without having some form of sound issues and cutting the first part off.

Just catching up, but I see quite a few remarks regarding font size. I'm wondering whether the decision to have the font as big as it is was deliberate, in order to better serve older audiences (it skewed over 50% to over-65s last night) than the relatively tiny text on BBC News and Sky News, particularly the rolling ticker at the bottom of the screen.

It is appealing to the working class, mainly leave type voters although now that is over with, I'd say just working classes. They/we are everywhere so I think they can do that. It's not only exclusively, working classes, but mainly. I'd say it will expand as it goes on. A lot of "woke" issues don't just effect the working classes.

BIB: If the working class is their target audience, I'd argue they've failed at that, given - according to Broadcast - under 20% of the audience for the opening show last night was from the C2DE demographic. They're just preaching to the choir/converted, it seems.

Perhaps they need to switch it all off at the mains and start again.!!

I can see from the graphics that they are broadcasting in HD, but the output from those cameras looks barely standard definition. I've also noticed that the refresh rate is very low hence any arm movement looks slightly slowed down.
I won't bother mentioning the other issues.
I'm sure someone must have signed off the technical requirements long before yesterday. So what's gone wrong?
They've come under a lot of criticism on Twitter today, 95% of it very justified.
Andrew Neil said last night that they wanted viewers opinions and that they will listen, lets hope that act upon them. :?

I'm assuming this is the equivalent of "You are not British." Weird that they didn't make a separate message for this (I'm not using an ad blocker)

And that's the major issue. If they're just attracting the same echo chamber audience who listen to talkRADIO, then where's the USP?

The next interesting point will be if advertisers who are alleged weren't told by Sky would have slots on GB News ask for them to be pulled from the channel. Although GB can make material out of that being "cancel culture" as part of their editorial agenda.

This is actually awful television. I didn’t expect the content to be good - both because of the stated mission, and the likely budgetary limits - but technically it’s very poor. It looks like LBC or TalkRadio have extended their technically limited and simple streaming presentation to traditional TV - only worse. At least the audio is consistently good on those platforms, and the studios brightly lit. Even when the presenters are well lit - which isn’t a guarantee - the set has so much black to it. The desk. The background, the bookshelf. What on Earth.

It also appears as though the studio has the DTL played on a speaker, rather than into the presenters earpieces, so every time they throw to the guest they either get a horrendous echo or the start of the guest’s contribution is cut off.

And the presenters - yikes. DePiero and Halligan are not polished enough to lead a programme with this little substance to it, and Dan Wooton manages to phrase every question or point as though he’s gunning for a fight, but also too intellectually lacking to actually engage in one. If there is one thing that unites CNN, MSNBC and Fox News, it’s that they use polished, engaging presenters who have no issue filling time, and (for the most part, and for better or worse) have clear personality and chemistry. From what I’ve seen so far, they’ve not picked a lot of people who fit that mould (based on their previous roles, not just their current performances), and in the long run that will make it much harder to sell a product with such little substance to it.
