To be fair, it does seem slightly strange that a channel with 'appointment-to-view' programming has 2 weather forecasts per hour. I can understand it might be worthwhile if they're having sponsors, but at the moment, they seem mostly redundant. You're not likely to be tuning in for a well-rounded news summary, so I don't see why there is such an insistence on regular forecasts.
Nana is a fascinating watch. You never know how she'll react to things. :lol:

The ticker has been running "Met Office has issued yellow weather warnings..." all evening - yet there are no yellow weather warnings active or coming up.

As you (and others) have suggested, it looks like the weather's only there so
someone might sponsor it and bring in some cash. After the week they've had, that might be ever so slightly optimistic right now!

It's the first time I've seen a remote used for autocue in the UK, but common on small scale US local news bulletins.
My experience in live television has always been a peddle (much like a guitar peddle) that you can speed up, slow down or even reverse the autocue.... I know these are in place at CNBC and CNN, so I wonder why this isn't in place at GB News? A cheaper solution maybe than actual "Autocue" (which of course is a brand of such systems)?

I’m sure they’ll find someone to take a deal on that for the first 6 months. Be interesting to see how they incorporate the weather sponsors sting. I also like how that page says “Our popular presenters will also voice some of our weather reports”… which is basically how it’s been with just Colin & Alistair doing it, very strange to not have the consistency!
Nana is a very pleasant watch. Tonight Live is actually not a bad show for when there’s not much else on the telly.
Although the wide shot did just have autocue in shot, which seems a bit clumsy!

I guess it's just a practicality issue - wired up peddles work fine in fixed positions like newsdesks, but when presenters are hopping all over different hard/soft areas of a studio a remote handheld device is more suitable.
I think you're probably right. Seems odd that on double-headed shows only one controls the script!!! This isn't a cheap - doing it on the fly outfit - I'd have thought that they would have invested in the correct tech to control this kind of stuff.
