I would advise not to blame on the ground tech staff, too much and "we" will walk out of the door! It is always the way and the fat cats should start to remember tech is far more important that it used to be, yet they still treat it like its 1985. If the ones at the top decided to do it on the cheap, no doubt advised against it, then it is on them.

Problem is you only get one opportunity to make a first impression. As I said a couple of days ago other channels have struggled to shake off their reputation even when sorting themselves out. As you say the damage is well and truly done

Westminster Live studios could be a possibility for a very short (e.g. week long) decamp to sort stuff out, but they’d have to find a separate building for the newsroom.

You can't instantly set up and start broadcasting something like a News Channel (even a bare bones one such as GB News) in an instant. It takes time, resources and planning. When ITV/GMB decided to long term hire TC2/3 there was a huge amount of extra facilities installed, in fact it was a major technical project in itself.
As I said in the old place, you need plenty of time (weeks/months) to commission, test, debug and dry run, and they only appeared to actually start the fit out in March/April.

Maybe they are just applying the old BBC mantra that engineers thought BBC management applied, something like:

Sounds like they are testing that one to the limit. Not the first business to have said, do we really need all these technical people?
We need to pay for talent and management.

Technical problems aside, have they even given any basic TV training to their reporters?
I’ve just seen their reporter at the Nissan plant in Sunderland interviewing a manager. She kept literally turning her back on her guest to talk to camera in between responses, making a statement, and then flinging the mic back in his face without asking a question, and expecting him to talk. It was truly bizarre.
Not sure what the point of constantly cutting to a reporter in Skegness at 8am is when nothing is open so early there! (Also the reporter admitting they had never actually visited Skegness personally!)
To their credit the sports-roundup this morning is remarkably comprehensive and they have actually shown some footage from the Euro.
This interview with Colin Jackson is very impressive. Sound is great, whenever a presenter talks it cuts back straight away.
Has the lighting been improved or is that just a morning thing?
