Don't see the point of doing the weather if you're not going to have at the very least a basic news summary as well.
You have to get your news from elsewhere before watching 'GB News'. It's not agenda setting, it's just reacting somewhat belatedly to events that fit within its own agenda. It's really an irrelevance to what is happening now.
Those thinking they can ditch the BBC and Sky News are going to quickly find out they can't if they want any idea what is going on in the world. Andrew Neil himself isn't going to be able to prep his show by watching GB News all day, but of course that shouldn't be the case. It may work for viewers as an addition to their News viewing routine but not as a replacement.
Will be interesting to see if they take the press conference today and if they get a question.

Maybe the monitor brightness in the gallery is ramped up to the max so they can't see just how dark some of the output is, even on a live hit.
Either that or no one has explained Iris and Gain to the camera person.
The lip-sync problems are noticeable more in the studio, rather than the outside broadcasts from what I've seen. They even had a link to Australia with Tony Abbot just now - with no lip sync issues :lol:
The lighting in the OB's is also particularly poor, something which could be remedied or improved with a silver mirrored reflective umbrella - available for around a tenner online. But I guess it depends how many crew members are working on location and their budget.

In a way, the launch night figures are 'irrelevant' - there were always naturally going a lot of people tuning in to sample the channel (especially considering the amount of hype/attention GB News received pre-launch). The test for the channel will be the audience numbers their shows a month, three months, six months, a year, etc from now.

Kirsty Gallagher is talking this morning of being the station for the whole of the UK.

This is what I said a few times on the pre launch thread... when their reporters go out and ask the people what matters to them and it doesn't fit in with Neil's vision of 'non-woke'?
The other thing that they need to sort is whether it's Britain's News Channel or the UK's News Channel, choose one for your slogan

Yep, everyone who's interested, plus the entire UK TV industry will be watching that first programme and it's probably the highest audience it will get.
Which is why it's a bit of a problem for them if it wasn't very good

Even tomorrow's audiences will be interesting to watch. Specifically the GBB ones. I can't see how people who want the news would watch it and those who want to watch some debate will quickly see that it's incredibly superficial and full of presenter banter padding. Even a short check of the headlines would be good every half hour, pre-launch I thought that that would be the format with Rosie Wright being the newsreader.

You can have a sponsor for the weather - you can't for a news summary. It's the same reason This Morning still has a weather bulletin but not a news summary.
It was always going to be reactionary to it's own agenda and feels a few days late with some of it's "debates" so far, but that's probably natural for a launch show where they've probably easing into things with topics they've been rehearsing.
Andrew Neil's show is the first chance really for it to be "agenda setting". If they can get one or two interviews with government ministers and opposition in reaction to the press conference that is very different to just having two or three of the usual rent-a-quote faces sat on a sofa discussing them.

But they do. They effect us all, how you react to them places you in the GB spear or not. Most people in the spear are going to be working class, but not exclusively.

But they do. They effect us all, how you react to them places you in the GB spear or not. Most people in the spear are going to be working class, but not exclusively.
