Even more bizarre is that GBN have a London correspondent, but it ended up being given to the SE correspondent to cover a story outside her patch.
They've just said/shown he's on the way to Wembley for the match itself - so presumably stuck wherever he can keep the arch in shot until midnight. EDIT: wrong - a bar in the City of London.
Will leave others to speculate on Simon McCoy's state of mind, but in set-design news, the large plant that was in the middle of the two-shot has been removed.
They've also being doing that thing all week of having fancy tumblers and tea/coffee cups on set which are left untouched, while the presenters use cheap glasses or mugs.
I think they might as well let the presenters use them, except it's not clear they have anywhere to wash up (no make-up facilities either according to a Dan Wootton piece after the launch).
The Twittering Classes would be more forgiving of the technical failures if the content was actually matching up to its promises. Repeated spelling errors also can't be blamed on IT systems.
Apart from Andrew Neil's interview with Rishi Sunak the channel hasn't produced any genuinely newsworthy (for the right reasons at least) stories in its first week. And it's evident that some daily shows simply don't have the ideas to sustain their hours.
Andrew Neil, having been editor of The Sunday Times, should know the value of actually breaking stories and original journalism.
If GB News is to succeed it has to be one of those outlets where, even if you don't agree with its editorial stance (like The Daily Mail under Paul Dacre), you have to pay attention to what it is saying.
I do enjoy them saying 'see you in a bit' before the TOH sting plays for 10 seconds and they're back on....
I’ve not been able to see a great deal of the channel this week, but I caught the last few minutes of the 3:00pm hour of McCoy and Phillips and it was certainly not too bad to watch. But I really think this channel would benefit from actual News summaries/headlines at the top of the hour. The main story at 4:00pm being about a festival. Whilst that is worthy to discuss, it doesn’t feel like an actual top News story. If we got to a situation where we had a TV equivalent of LBC, then I’d certainly be more inclined to watch at particular times.

Did anything even get picked up from that interview though - I've not seen anything at all from other news organisations reporting on what was said, unlike the usual Sunday politics shows where both from Marr and Sophie Ridge content will be picked up and feature in news reports on all channels all day.

It's all very well, as Brillopad annouced that there won't be news headlines/news bullies at the top of every hour or at half past - but that's admitting that you are not giving your programmes a fixed anchor point twice every hour.
It needs it. Even a 60 second rundown of the top 3 main stories would help.
Doesn't take long, and gives a hook for the next quarter of an hour on which to hang content, rather than leaving random stories slumped on the floor with no sense to the viewer which is more important to know more about.

For me, the feel is much more that of a radio station. I hesitate to say Jeremy Vine (for a lot of reasons) but it has the feel of a conversation which runs over the TOTH/BOTH boundaries quite comfortably. Personally, I think it would help - and give some much needed production space breaks - to have some form of news cut away.

Is it usual for TV shows with more than one presenter to not have an autocue op? In this, it looks like Simon is operating the autocue for both himself and his co-presenter, meaning that he can’t take his eyes off the camera whilst Alex is speaking.
As a result of this he can’t look to her during links (the Elstree triangle certainly nowhere to be seen here) and it comes across as a bit odd on-screen IMO.
They could massively improve the news update situation and quality of the channel just by introducing an update at the TOTH.
:56 - Weather (gives time for previous presenters to leave)
:58 - Advert Break
:00 - News update with one of the presenters for that hour presented next to the vertical touchscreen (separate newscaster during the evenings)
:02 - Second presenter then gives information about topics due to be discussed in the hour (whilst other presenter comes back to the sofa area)
:03 - Programme Sting
The one gaffe I haven't seen yet is any ex-Sky or ex-BBC news presenters mistakenly identifying the wrong channel (which sometimes happened with other presenters that moved between BBC/News/Sky). Maybe because it's blindingly obvious they're in a different environment.

Made the business section of The Telegraph but that was about it, I think.
I've said this before, but Simon and Alex are becoming a really great pairing. I like their banter, tech issues and all, they are taking it in stride and can produce some really funny/heartwarming moments.
I also enjoy the much criticized nationwide segments. As an international viewer, I feel like it gives me a glimpse of everyday life in the UK. It doesn't have to be some big local news, it can be a random person in the street, a funny local actress they had in the previous hour, a mate in a pub. Also makes me realize just how much London-centric other channels are.
I wish I could see more of Gloria and Liam, because their clips look interesting and bizarre, they seem to have some sort of bickering couple energy.
Hoping for a You Tube stream soon, the website stream is a bit of a chore.
Anyway, one thing no one can deny, this week was anything but boring in the GBN world.
