I think Andrew did not have much choice when he left BBC News. ITV did not want him, they have Peston who they poached from the BBC a few years ago. Channel 4 is far too politically different in tone for Andrew to feel comfortable there, and of course he could not go back to his old channel Sky News, so launching a new news channel was the only logical choice for him, as he would be wasted on 5 News.

As I said a while back, LBC has employed it's fair share of Marmite as talent - Farage, Hopkins, Jones, O' Brien, Rees-Mogg... but their compliance record is near-as-damnit squeaky clean.
The last five or six minutes felt rushed like they tried to cram in as many topics as possible before the top of the hour, which they went over. If only they spent less time on some of the other topics earlier - oh wait, they are mostly the same topics

I know I must sound like Global bum kisser but they missed a real trick not getting him for LBC.

I know I must sound like Global bum kisser but they missed a real trick not getting him for LBC.
Ashley Tabor-King owns Global who own LBC and from what I have read, they are not exactly best friends with Andrew.
They seem to be having issues with the graphics. The TOTH graphic keeps appearing and disappearing.

I think that Channel 4 could have benefited from having someone like Andrew Neil on their team personally... at the risk of sounding too political it might have given some balance to what is (rightly or wrongly) perceived as something as a left-wing outlet... but that's quite enough of
that... the nub of my point is that
anything would have been better than
this woeful excuse of a 'news' outlet.
I think Andrew had burnt a lot of bridges, which is why LBC, Channel 4 etc etc were always out of the question - and his own self controlled channel was the natural choice.

That's true. I believe TalkRadio have been okay in a compliance sense too?
I wonder who's got the job of writing back to Ofcom at GB News when (inevitably) the first complaint comes in... if they're worth their salt, they should be able to get them out of most stuff.
talkRADIO did get suspended back in Jan 2021 from their YouTube platform over their content. It was only for a few hours, but it did happen.

In terms of audio, from the photos it looks like it’s all being run through a Newtek TriCaster which is also running the audio.
Whether it’s an automation or a compatibility issue is hard to tell, but I’ve ran a weekly show via NDI with remote cameras, switching, zoom / Skype calls and it’s never been this problematic - which makes me wonder if it’s Mosart throwing a wobbly.
Didn't TriCasters used to have a terrible reputation some years ago? (pre NDI, obviously). I wish I could find the blog or case study about it but I can't - but around 7-8 years ago maybe the BBC used one as an experiment for several days of extended red button Autumnwatch coverage. Fairly sure they handled the sound separately though…
An actual paper review and a discussion about what’s in them might be useful rather than a quick flash at random front pages and back to discussing the same four topics they have been since launch.
