It looks and sounds a lot better now we’re a few hours in. I’ve just tuned in after being otherwise engaged for a bit and to me, it seems fine. The lighting isn’t as bad as is being made out. The shot of Dan with the screen behind him looks really good.

There’ll be tweaks obviously but what I’m watching right now looks technically no worse than a paper review on one of the existing channels.

Wow they bring in a Chinese conspiracy theorist (and also related to a disinformation campaign targeting Joe Biden during US election) on the channel’s launch night! Just 3 hours after Andrew Neil’s segment now it’s completely opposite.

Technical issues will be sorted. Everything else was exactly as expected - but somehow worse in reality. Opinions were formed when Dan Wootton was the first signing and they've now been reinforced by having his show first up after the launch. Nothing they do in daytime can balance the sort of rhetoric he's delivering in primetime.

It deserves to fail. It won't.

I know in the opening we were told the channel was not like other broadcasters, however is there actually any news on GB News (apart from on the ticker?). It’s almost like you need to get your news from another source to find out what is going on before you can discuss it on GB news?

Once they have bedded in and upped their technical game, then criticism can turn to the personalities and their politics. Obviously a conversation for a different venue, but unless they do big interviews with important figures, I do not see myself tuning in to hear right wing rants, and complaining about progressive rights for everyone, including the Trans community.

Anyone who doubted the tone and tenor of the channel should have been aware when they complained about "Cancel Culture" and "Woke Watch"

I dipped in to hear the end of Andrew's Monologue. When he decided to call out the terrorists in France who attacked after Charlie Hebdo, it was a powerful statement that would have found agreement with most people of almost any political persuasion. But now, it rings hollow, and does sound like the rants of someone who is at the end of their career, and feeling a need to vent.

Fine for a newspaper column, or even a blog - but a bit of an indulgence to form a new broadcast channel for. He may feel strongly about these things, and have sought out like minded people. But can it endure? How long before the political tides shift, and they find themselves out of step with the public? I can only hope it is sooner, but thats a personal view, and we don't like sharing those here lol

So we wait, and see if this broadcast entity can prove its worth, in whatever manner people wish, be it audience, or that part of society who felt out of step, left behind, feel their voice is finally heard.

Never mind OFCOM balance requirements, could this channel fall foul of OFCOM broadcast quality standards?

It certainly seemed from the Sugar bashing of "Idiot" Starmer, and Wootton's bashing of Boris, along with the Farage love-in that they had.... that this channel is more aligned to the Reform Party (ex Brexit Party) than anything else!

Admittedly I watched most of tonight's output on my phone, which doesn't give a fair representation of the presentation, so I'm currently going through my recording of the first hour from the HD channel.

It's clear to see that some cameras haven't been set up properly, Andrew Neil's was so grainy that viewers on Freeview would even notice, while others such as the guest camera on Neil Oliver were set up correctly.

The local reporter on the pier self shot VT was quite frankly awful with the colour washed out.
