I had a look at Friday 3rd Sept’s ratings at random - and they speak for themselves:
0600-0900 Great British Breakfast 13k
0900-1200 To The Point 11k
1200-1600 DiPiero and Halligan 7k
1600-1800 The Afternoon Agenda 9k
1800-1900 Dewbs and Co 11k
1900-2000 Best of Farage 17k
2000-2100 Colin Brazier 11k
2100-0000 Tonight Live with Mark Dolan 26k
Comfortably thrashed again in every slot by BBC NC and Sky News.
As for yesterday, some 15-minute segments of Alastair Stewart rated 0, and Nana Akua averaged just 5k.
Have to agree that moving McCoy to breakfast was a mistake, there's no genuine chemistry with Kirsty Gallacher, which means we now have a schedule of daytime parings that simply don't work and I include De Piero and Halligan in that.
Alex Phillips needs someone to bounce off her opinions and McCoy was the perfect foe to that.

Indeed news channels often have these sort of lighter stories/interviews every so often about topics that aren’t ‘hard news’ (see say BBC News doing several minutes on somebody doing a Dua Lipa remix of the BBC News theme) so I don’t see what the issue is here. You need some light and shade in the news and it can’t always be ‘hard news’ all the time.
Though whether a channel that loudly claimed it’d cover the hidden stories/‘the stories others won’t’ should then cover fluff like this is a different issue.
A far bigger issue for me would be presenters spouting out anti-vax views and conspiracy theories and the channel rallying against ‘cancel culture’ only to then effectively cancel their own presenter for free speech. Also it has to be said from an optics point of view their primetime presenter line-up seem to be near exclusively middle-aged to old white men who all seem to lack warmth whether that be Neil Oliver, Nigel Farage, Andrew Doyle, Dan Wootton, Mark Dolan. There’s a total lack of diversity and it’s not as if the likes of say Isabel Webster or Nana Akua aren’t capable anchors. Somebody like Simon McCoy too might at least add some warmth.

Indeed - the fact they’re doing a live arena tour too (after previous ones) suggests he’s much more well-known and liked than the vast majority of those on GB News.
Was never going to be room for Andrew Neil and Nigel Farage. Hopefully after the way he has spoken about the BBC in recent months, along with the mainstream media, he won't be invited back on screen - the BBC don't need him and as said a few posts ago neither do ITV or C4. Nowadays though if he doesn't end up on radio somewhere there could be potential for him to do own thing in the streaming or podcast market - didn't they start trialing a few things with the Spectator?
As for the gap it leaves in the schedule - I would say if they're going to keep a second nightly hour long show it might be better to seperate it from Farage by moving Dan Woottan an hour earlier and trying a late night show at 11pm - though in all honesty if they did that they might as well just put a Farage repeat at 11pm. That said FWIW I can't see Farage being tied to a news channel for too long either.
The Briefing loos pretty good preswise. In terms of content though it just seems like another hour of GB News with a more parliamentary slant.
On Gloria’s close shot she’s out of focus with the background being clear-as-day. I thought they’d got past this?
Either way, that’s me tuned out for another few weeks until there’s something pres-related deserving of another ten minutes of my day.
If they can't sell advertisements for certain blocks of programming, then they should simply fill the vacant slots with trailers and promos for upcoming GB News shows, especially their prime time line up.

There did seem to be an issue with that shot over the weekend too. The rest of the first interview looked fine.
I think this programme would be better if it had brief round up of all the political goings on in Westminster for a couple of minutes at the top of hour and some simple packages ahead of each interview giving some context to what’s being discussed. It would make the programme seem less like a regular hour just at a different desk than it is now.
Weren’t news rounds up meant to be happening by now?
