You're being unfair here. I’m not sure what your vendetta is against the channel but in fairness to them, I’ve been watching a fair amount recently and there hasn’t been one sound problem. They’re much rarer these days than at launch. Yes, the L3s need improving, yes there are still occasional issues but they’re much more scarce than at launch.
I agree. The amount of technical problems seems to closer in line with any 24 hour news operation. It’s the nature of such channels that you’ll never get rid of them completely.
My main pres criticism would be the sets though, at one point it looked like they were slowly tweaking things but that all suddenly seemed to stop once they did the breakfast bar area. The old Andrew Neil set still looks incredibly basically and apart from the screens the Farage area is still lacking any actual set design. That desk needs to be wider and lose the edge at the front. They also haven’t bothered to do anything with the sofa area apart from the big lightning improvement.
Completely agree - the set’s grown on me but that’s probably because of the additions. It just needs a couple of tweaks (for example, making the black background behind the screen in the Farage set blue possibly). Ideally I’d go for a complete redesign but the tweaks would probably do it.
My main gripe with GBN is the lack of imagination since they moved most shows to a set that resembles a hotel reception or the breakfast bar.
At least the sofa area gave them a distinctive magazine format style of presentation, while the attempting to be formal on the cheap doesn't really work, not helped that their cameras struggle to reduce the noise seen on screen. When they do OBs, the lighting and PQ improve straight away as seen during the Labour and Tory conferences recently.
The only show I really watch now is The Briefing with Gloria De Piero which appears to be the least amateur of the daytime programmes with an excellent segment of The Real Me interviews with MPs.
Not usually a fan of rota talk etc but I feel it needs mentioning that TVF favourite Karen Roberts is on newsreading duty on GBN tonight.
I have no vendetta against GB News at all - as I said before, their political slant is not something I will comment on here, as my main problem is their production values, which I still feel are substandard.

The production value has improved a bit over the months, but the main production issue as I see it, is they're using cameras at the cheap end of the broadcast camera market, and they just aren't of high enough quality. Unfortunately that won't change until they replace them all.

But they are not broadcasting 'live' for 24 hours which makes the most basic mistakes far worse. Getting studio sound and focus wrong on screen is puzzling to say the least. Remotes can be challenging and therefore more forgivable.

Barely watching this channel during the day, but Alex Phillips really grates. Some presenters are good at delivering those monologues, but it’s really hard work to watch her attempting to do one.
Neil Oliver currently getting more viewers across both YouTube streams (the specific one for his show and the generic GB News one) than Nigel Farage generally gets on YouTube (or at least around a similar number). Interesting to see.
