Quote: Andrew Neil will not return to GB News on Monday as expected, amid growing speculation about strained relations between him and the channel’s top team.

Multiple insiders expected Neil to be back on air on September 6, but The Times understands that this prospect is now out of the question.

Neil, who also serves as GB News’ chairman, has been in talks with management about his return without a resolution.

It honestly doesn't surprise me that Chairman Neil doesn't want to return now, and this would also align with previous rumours that he is being overruled in decision-making by Frangopoulos.

Confirming The Times’ article.

Funny really as it’s been the Colin Brazier chair a lot more than Andrew Neil’s…
Interesting graphics on the row of monitors behind the window in this picture (and a clearer view of the new frosting on the glass).https://twitter.com/elliecostelloTV/status/1433755910548172801?s=20
The ‘how dare anybody suggest Andrew Neil might not be happy’ people can’t be best pleased by this news. Given there’s been such a volume of stories about Neil’s future the phrase ‘there’s no smoke without fire’ springs to mind.
Hiring too the likes of Oakeshott, Robinson and Dolan among others recently indicates the direction of trsvel the station seems to be going in and it’s not a high quality one. Meanwhile those few who got positive reviews like Nana Akua and Rosie Wright are sidelined.

It can’t be denied too that the optics of a star presenter only appearing the first two weeks then disappearing for months aren’t great (especially as it doesn’t appear health related).
The endless tweaks too only 2-3 months in whether to presenters, the studio, programme lengths and the various controversies do not suggest the channel is in a good way. You don’t make endless changes if all is hunkydory. And they never indicated pre launch that there’d be tweaks galore at the start so it’s doubtful this is some great masterplan.
Well no, not some masterplan but at least they are trying to find stuff that works for them. I think the changes to Breakfast & Afternoons seem to have been for the better, same with bringing in Farage for the evening slot. Same can be said for Mark Dolan as at least there is constantly in that slot now (however 'nice' the vibe Nana bought to the weekend shows).

If they manage to settle the schedule into something that works for the audience - and them - then I expect these first few months will be long forgotten if (big if) the channel lasts the distance.

They probably at this point wish they'd branded the 8-9pm slot with a show name instead because at least they could've dropped the 'with Andrew Neil' bit and just got on with.
I can’t see Andrew Neil returning now. If next week is meant to be the big relaunch would have made the most sense for him to come back then. I can’t see Dewbs & Co returning either. I’m also not expecting Mercy to be back, given watching it back the start of the last two shows her absence doesn’t seem to have been mentioned.

I think they should have sent a few lights, a green screen, camera and a microphone to Andrew Neil’s house and tried to get him to do the show from there. They have Farage now but could have done with Neil to add some substance and depth to the line up.
Rumours swirling re my @GBNEWS show as programme guides show the removal of my show next week…

Sorry to disappoint the mischief makers, but I’m just taking a couple of weeks annual leave & being covered by Alex.

Northerners get holidays too ?

As you were.

See you @ 6pm ??

The Guardian and The Telegraph are all reporting the same angle as The Times.

I can’t see Andrew Neil returning. It was evident from his first two weeks that he isn’t going to get the guests to do heavyweight political interviews and sustain four shows a week.
I think it's also the case there simply isn't room for both Farage and Neil, especially back to back in the schedule.
If Andrew is not returning, why don't GB News admit it, and end the guest hosts of the Andrew Neil Hour? Why prolong the agony? If Andrew was returning, it surely must be now, as we are back into the political season once again, now the summer is over.

I don't see why GB News keep using his name for the 8pm hour? If they are keeping his name, there must be a slim hope that he will be back, right?
It's been a long "few weeks", hasn't it? Quite a few sources now suggesting he's going to quit.

Presumably they're the graphics for 'The Briefing'
Noticed that only one edition of The Briefing is airing next week which will be The Briefing Lunchtime.
Clearly nobody's watching GB News at breakfast as I looked at my recording and they didn't go live until 0639.

What filled the gap from 6-6:39? Don’t tell me they had Farage repeated again!
