They're currently running a promotional loop.
Poor audio quality indeed... It's also a little misleading that they're running a promotional loop whilst the programme data says they're running PMQs/regular programming.

I don't know what sound quality you're expecting from a station with a bandwidth of 24kbps.

Just to give some context here, most other stations transmitted in DAB+/DAB has a bandwidth of 32, 64 or 80kbps.

LBC News used to be at 24k but has upped the bitrate to 32k mono which is a vast improvement.

In which case why not broadcast on dab+ (as much of that mux is dab+ enabled).. there is a joke about quality over quantity, somewhere in there, when it came to GBnews content.

In this context, has the broadcaster sacrificed bandwidth and technological improvements, and took the decision to broadcast in dab format rather than a dab+ format, as it reaches a wider audience in comparison.

Subsequently, will the poor quality audio, due to bandwidth restrictions and capacity, put people off from listening, as it's all over the place at the moment quality wise .. even though it's a test on D1.

It is broadcast in DAB+. As a result, the low bandwidth is utterly mind-boggling, to say the least.

Then again, as the old saying goes: If GB News spent £60 million, £59.9 of which will be on the presenters.
You can’t say they don’t get experts opinion on GB News, they have a doctor on debating potential future lockdowns. Although I don’t know what qualifies Esther Rantzen to debate Dr Neil Fox on the matter.

I wouldn't mind, LBC News when it was at 24k DAB+ still sounded better despite the audio artefacts. GB News for some reason have bodged up making a radio station sound half decent at a low bitrate. Global have proved it's possible.

I note from a Twitter snippet he's been complaining about a lack of evidence for restrictions. Of all people, you'd think he'd know how to read a chart.
GB News are at least very proactive at updating their YouTube throughout the day with clips from all the shows as they air, and then the shows in full.

If I'm likely to see any of their output it will be there.
I thought Simon had quit or was that just paper talk? He's on GBN this morning?

He's set to leave at the end of the month. It's not an Andrew Neil-style exit.
Problems tonight…Wootton interrupted his how at about 9:05 and they went to adverts, since then they have been running old clips from various other shows, and also trailers.

Looks like their vision mixer has crashed as they couldn't mix any shots or remove the side bar on Wootton's show. The problem with not having 2 galleries if one throws a wobbly.

Edit. They're back with Dan apologising for the technical problems saying they have to get better and that Ofcom hadn't pulled the channel.
Just come back…that’s quite a big outage.

His last show's on the 30th, apparently.

It's nice to see that this is quite the opposite of Andrew Neil's exit. Hopefully he'll pop back up on the channel sometime.
