Due to the fact that a replacement for Piers Morgan is bound to be announced in the coming months, and that some guests are now back in the studio, I thought I'd do the honour of starting a GMB thread.
They made full use of the 'big desk' this morning, as Richard Gaisford was in the studio. I believe Pierce and Maguire were too.

On this topic - very interesting to read yesterday that it took a grand total of seventeen minutes for the arrival of the first application to fill Piers' vacant seat after the announcement that he was 'leaving the show' on 9th March.

I was wondering if the Good Morning Britain thread would finally graduate to the 'news' forum over here. I quite like that it hasn't, though - it's like putting on an old pair of slippers.

I thought that article was a fascinating read yesterday.
Is it damaging for ITV that (it seems, according to the above) that they didn't insist Piers left after his comments on the Monday show? Or is this a case of them not wanting to make the decision of stripping GMB of a valuable asset by sacking him?
Piers also took some (albeit fairly subtle for his style) digs at Alex Beresford (or they appeared as so), which was interesting to see.
They certainly had banterous digs at each other on the air - not sure whether this is that or a bit more serious, it certainly looks like he was being slightly more serious though.
In regards to who will replace Piers, if they do go for a female, that makes the two presenters, newsreader and weather who will be female Mon to Wed,which create an imbalance.
I can’t help but think that it will be a while yet before Pier’s replacement is announced. It’ll be a combo of presenters from the team (and extended team) until then.
I have to say, whilst Morgan’s jibes at John Cleese were a little mean spirited they did make me laugh.

Erron's just asked me about that! I am contemplating moving it at some stage, given that BBC Breakfast is also a news programme and that was in the Newsroom forum...

It looks like they could maybe do with some lights on that wall behind where Richard is sitting. I think it looks a bit dark.
I am slowly warming to the MegaDeskTM, and I do feel that the post-Piers format is working alright. And I don't miss the rants from 6:30-7:00, I know the presenters do still have a little chat at the start of the show some days, but i accept that it is just part of the show now
There was a lot of "GMB is doomed now" kinds of discussion after he left, but to be honest, is there anything intrinsically wrong with the show?
If anything, it's better without him as there's a bit more structure at least.
I can't see ITV wanting to throw everything out and start over again.

I enjoyed the programme when Piers hosted, and enjoyed it before that and on the days he didn’t.
The format has always felt fresh and different, which I think is why I’ve always preferred it to the BBC’s offerings.

I still prefer it to the rather old and tired BBC Breakfast.
As much as I thought Piers was a great asset to GMB I think the programme will still continue to grow now that he has gone. I for one will still be watching. It is a breath of fresh air compared to what is on the other side especially in terms of presentation etc.
I think we only need to worry if the programme goes back to it's January 2015 days.... but I think they days are well and truly over (hopefully). It is definitely going to take ITV time to find someone maybe not as controversial as Piers.
