This just appeared for about 20 seconds in the middle of an ad break. Did any other regions experience similar?
I have to say, whilst I was critical of him when he first appeared, I've really liked Ed Balls on GMB this week. I think he really could take on the top job permanently. Viewers are happy about him aswell.
Have to agree, he was brilliant this morning and has great chemistry with Susanna
Ranvir Singh and Ed Balls tomorrow. Political people aptly “mopping up” the details of the ongoing tv debate, to quote Ranvir herself.
Guess we're into summer season on GMB too then. I do wonder if they've approached anyone more of a Tory persuasion - not a fan of politicians presenting news programmes full stop but you'd think considering they've used Ed Balls and Alastair Campbell they'd at least have approached others - Michael Portillo an obvious candidate for example.

You're hardly going to get a truly fair and unbiased political interview when it's being headed up by Labour's Ed Balls or Alistair Campbell. If they ARE going to go down the route of allowing the likes of Balls and Campbell to have a main presenting position, then they need to at least balance this out by getting a right-wing equivalent, otherwise they're simply going to be accused of bias and not being representative of the population.
Ideally, for me, you'd have a pair of completely impartial presenters. Take Charlotte, for example - I couldn't tell you whether I think she votes red, blue, or anything in between. Same with Ben and some others on GMB. That's how it should be in my view when you're presenting what is supposed to be unbiased, balanced news coverage, and I wouldn't have Balls, Campbell, or any potential right-wing ex-politicians anywhere near those two main presenter chairs.
I personally don't mind the likes of Ed or Alastair, as long as they remain neutral during the News elements, more than happy to hear their opinion during the other segments.
Ed or Alastair for me during the news segment. I like Richard Arnold too with the showbiz segment though he can talk longer than usual sometimes and the regional news is a bit delayed
I’m not sure they’d have Alastair anymore. He’s turned it up a notch on Twitter since Partygate and that was also obvious with his appearance on Question Time. I’m not sure he’d be able to even pretend to be balanced now.

As mentioned before, in the seventies and eighties the most respected political interviewer of all was Brian Walden, who went into it straight from being a Labour MP, but he was totally impartial as an interviewer to the extent he was Margaret Thatcher's favourite interviewer. Robin Day stood as a Liberal candidate in the 1959 election as well.
It's worth remembering that there is much that MPs from all parties have in common, and they will often be working with the opposition on select committees, to gain support for private members' bills and so on, and while they will clearly disagree with each other on various things, there is generally a mutual respect among most MPs because they know what the job entails and the pressures of it. Diane Abbott and Michael Portillo were poles apart politically in the Commons, but they worked together on This Week for many years and were great friends away from the Commons chamber.
Ed Balls has been in the cabinet, and he's been in leadership contests, so he knows what it's like to go through this scrutiny and to be slagged off, so he probably has a bit of a respect for anyone who goes through it, in many ways he might be less eager to put the boot in than some other people on TV. There is a mutual respect among MPs and former MPs, by and large, I think. It's like football pundits, really, those who actually want to do it properly know it's no good just cheerleading for their former team.

If he weren't already at GB News, then I would say Nigel Farage would be a good shout. Yes, he is
very divisive, to say the least, but he is an accomplished broadcaster and a decent interviewer,
and he would probably add an extra couple of hundred thousand viewers for the novelty factor, if nothing else.

I agree. 100%. I think it's time they found Susanna a permanent co-host now - they've been carrying on with guest hosts for the better part of 18 months, and I can't think of any other breakfast show on the planet that does this. Why don't they pair up, say, Susanna and Charlotte, if they really can't find a male co-host?

Think that’s a first - presumably you’d have to stretch the weather chart to make it fit the big screen, so they’ve virtually recreated the studio walls to the sides of the chart.
It’s just nice to see some variation to be honest in terms of using different bits of the studio.
I also think it’s noticeable that the titles actually look nicer when you put pretty much anything other than TVC on them!
