Granada did use some of the new coloured graphics in between news stories during the 06:15 update this morning. Unless my eyes were deceiving me.

Aren’t they supposed to be in stretched out, so they look right when they shoot them sideways on?

Well the last few times I’ve seen Granada’s bulletins, their image looks a lot more stretched than any other region I’ve seen.

In fairness, the 5-colour logo is still the ITV corporate/network logo. The three-colour version is just for channel 3 and the Hub.

Loving the new TOTH titles and the transitions for ITV News and Weather. They look a lot more polished than the once’s they’ve replaced. I just wish they could carry the slight shadow effects and nuances to the lower third graphics too.

One thing I think they need to neaten up is the "Susanna and whoever will be here at 6.30 but until then you're stuck with me" part after the intro. Doesn't take much to change - just change it to "And from 6.30 Susanna and whoever will be talking to the government minister about todays developments" so if feels like they're promoting content rather than just their A-team turning up 30 minutes late.

Indeed now Piers has gone although that first half hour has some value in it's own right I wonder if a return to a 6am start for the main team would be wise.

As 'social distancing' seems to have ended on many programmes (or at least decreased) that desk on GMB is beginning to look foolish.

It reminds me of that ludicrously long imaginary desk during the BBC News virtual era. Except this one is real.

I'd imagine that it'll be kept until at least the new year. The last thing they'd want to do is scrap it only for social distancing to be reintroduced in event of rising Covid rates. At least they're now able to have a lot more people around the table compared to earlier in the year, as that screen capture shows.

And that 90s shot shows giving people personal space is not a new thing. We've just become accustomed over the years to presenters and guests practically sat on top of each other.

When they do inevitably replace the mega desk though I suspect anything smaller will look ridiculously out of proportion in that space.

Could be - BBC Breakfast and Sky News (in general) were the other nominees.
