I still think Eamonn Holmes would be a really top-class pick - he can be opinionated when he needs to be but it also a good objective interviewer, and has lots of experience. The question is whether he'd want to go back to doing breakfast TV.

At a guess, considering he gave up talkRADIO because he couldn't juggle that & This Morning.. and now finds himself with only holiday cover for the latter, he probably would. But... do they want to give it GMTV vibes with a hire like that?

I doubt it'll give GMTV vibes, as he'll be paired with Susanna and the whole show has a unique, very different feel to it from GMTV.
I like Adil as a cover presenter but I don't feel he'd work full-time - in my opinion his views are too similar to Susanna's (this is considering they still go down the more opinionated route).

Agreed. I think that the debate format requires two presenters with differing political stances, not just to avoid alienating viewers on either side of the spectrum, but also to make the debates more passionate.

It seems ITV aren't cutting Piers loose completely as he'll still do his other stuff although I do wonder if Life Stories will be axed as it didn't really rate that well for them. It'd be better for Piers to do work for other broadcasters although you have to wonder if they'd want him?
I have a feeling Piers will be back with his own show very soon. I wasn't a fan of his so I hope the rumours are false.

Exactly. Totally misinterpreted, but in fairness the article itself totally misinterprets the story and makes it sound like the show will become "Susanna Reid's Good Morning Britain" or something. They're simply keeping Reid (was there ever even a threat of her quitting?) and trialling different guest co-hosts over the next 6 months. Hardly headline-worthy. It's just a sensible approach.

This is an interesting line. I can see why having more editorial input into the show behind the scenes would be an attractive offer and could potentially be used to keep Susanna sweet and stop her from looking elsewhere now her 'partner in crime' has gone, though I'd question how true this claim is, as surely the presenters must have a good level of input into the programme generally in any case? Piers seemed to just turn up and talk about whatever he liked, whether it be about vegan sausage rolls or the 'inappropriate' outfit someone chose to wear at an awards ceremony, or whether a magazine should be 'promoting unhealthy lifestyles' by having plus size models on the cover... (I could go on...) so I can't imagine Susanna being unable to influence the topics the show covered in any event.
As ever with this kind of article, its contents should be taken with a pinch of salt.

Yes. Kevin Maguire said that Piers was the one who got him and Andrew Pierce their now almost daily newspaper review roles on GMB. Presumably they have all known each other for a long time through working on newspapers - unless Piers just happened to enjoy watching them both on Sky Papers...

I agree, As much as he was a controversial figure on GMB, There were times when it became unwatchable and what he did on the 8th and 9th of March would have made me Stop watching GMB for good on Mondays-Wednesdays until he left for good. I think GMB will continue to grow too and while they might have lost some audience due to Piers' departure alot more viewers who were put off by Piers will start tuning back in
