I wonder if he will return to a news reading role or reporting. Can’t see where he’d fit into the newsreader rota to be honest.
Shame to see him leave his US role but understand him wanting to return to the UK as he starts to get older.
Will miss Jon in that role; really enjoyed his US coverage over the past years. I guess he would always end up back in the UK though as he gets older.
My theory is he'll end up on Newsnight as a correspondent or cover presenter. He'd be a perfect fit!

Having held one of the most prestigious postings, I think it's fair to say he'll come back in a prominent role. My own two pence is possibly something in the politics brief rather than a named programme on World News or a National Bull.
I've no doubt he'll end up in a Clive Myrie kind of role. Presenting from NBH as well as on location.

Assuming my assumptions over potential World Service graphical complications are correct, are we currently expecting that there will be no immediate change to the BBC News branding and/or logo tomorrow, in that it will continue to use the 1997 BBC blocks (for now)?

My understanding - similar to local BBC radio stations - is that master-level icons will change tomorrow (like the website image) but things like physical signage etc will take a lot longer to filter through.

There are a few already in the bureau who could easily step up, Gary O'Donoghue for example. That said, it could be a big moment for some new faces like Adam Fleming etc.

My prediction is that nothing changes at all on BBC News, BBC World News, BBC Arabic, BBC Persian, the other language services, or BBC Alba. Also CBeebies and CBBC. Not even a like for like replacement of the logo.

Adam Fleming has only just stepped into his new shoes at Westminster, I doubt it'll be him. It'll be a high profile move to replace Jon Sopel as NA Editor for sure.
I for sure can't wait to have more Sopel on my tv.
