it is generated live. I've seen photos from Matt Taylor showing pre 0600 times.
BBC Parliament's bespoke coverage of the State Opening seems to have bitten the dust a few years ago in favour of simulcasting the BBC One programme (it did seem like a bit of an extravagance), but I've just had a look back at
their coverage of Prorogation, and it seems that budget cuts have done for their commentary.
In previous years they'd stick 50p in the meter and Daniel Brittain would occupy the Millbank studio with a guest; laterally they'd be out of vision. Now it's just the clean feeds from the chambers. Where am I going to get my critiques of synchronised hat doffing now?
[edit] it appears Mr Brittain-Catlin
retired last month, which may also have something to do with it - it always felt a bit like a pet project of his.

BBC tent in background
Random observation: after the normal countdown to 23:00 BST on the News Channel there was a minute or so of the loop without a countdown (it probably has a proper name I'm not aware of) before eventually getting to Shaun Ley in studio C.
Any ideas on the cause? I know the papers came from C at 22:30 so no studio switch to blame...
Probably nothing, but unusual nonetheless.
The properly back-timed countdown comes from one of the Viz graphics channels and occasionally it doesn’t run, so the numberless countdown loop is used instead. I imagine that is what happened in this instance. This loop is permanently running in both C and E. It’s also used when a news bulletin isn’t starting at the top of an hour for any reason (so, for example, you’ll often see it before BBC One joins at the weekend for bulletins).

Last time the countdown run as normal and then went to the numberless filler after 23:00.

Plus, the countdown before the News at Ten on weekdays was normally played by Studio A, which carried Outside Source as far as I know, but from late March 2020 E plays the countdown (and since then the 2200 countdown has been longer than before), is that part of the Covid special arrangements?
Lots of things happening at the moment are because of special COVID arrangements. The often 90” countdown into the Ten is a side effect!
