The desk was removed and the space eventually used for edit suites. There remains the presentation position as shown above.

Does anyone know there’s about a 2 second delay between BBC One and News Channel?

I had two TVs on simultaneously watching the Six, and it appeared that the News Channel’s feed was ahead of that of BBC1?

Also last few weeks, there’s been a lot of building work happening at Number 4 Millbank

Might be something about sharing the feed and maintaining video quality, there was discussion here about why BBC4 showed nothing instead of Prince Philip coverage on the Friday of his death which might be relevant, more channels involved but two second difference so slight difference in output might improve quality

Vicky young was back in the balcony on the 10 tonight .

It makes sense for the News Channel to be ahead. The (simplified) path for the News Channel is

Studio - CCM - Transmitter

The path for BBC News on BBC One (SD) is

Studio - BBC One pres - regional centre - CCM - Transmitter

Ben Thompson is on the News Channel. Don't think he's ever done this before. Has presented Breakfast, Business Live and the business segments on the news channel but don't think a full bulletin.

He has occasionally during July and August a few years ago at weekends

I always love it when you see someone in the background watching another channel! I remember a couple years back over on NBC they were doing I believe a segment for News 4 NY @ 11 AM, but someone right behind the reporter was watching The Price is Right! (which airs at 11 AM over here)

With the exception of some internal feeds, they're generally regular channels which are programmed into a multi-screen set up

Perhaps the only presenter who is taller than the cat walk screens.

Slightly odd that they did a headline sequence at 5pm when the press briefing means none of the stories are actually going to be featured this hour. They were lucky Hancock wasn’t straight out of the gates at 5pm on the dot or they would have missed the start

Also slightly odd in my eyes they referred to the briefing as a “Covid Presser” on the headline graphic, which to me is a media term rather than something that is usually public facing
