Not sure I agree with calling it a
rapidly dwindling organisation, but wholeheartedly agree the rate at which the big name correspondents are leaving or indeed being cut is quite shocking. I also wonder if people are leaving in protest against some of the ridiculous decisions that have been made since the arrival of Tim Davie.
We've seen a lot of new blood/talent come through since Covid arrived but it appears to be at the expense of solid household names people trust, and have watched for years.

Outside Source back in studio C and news channel taking the whole 90 mins of it. With only 30mins of news channel output between 8:30-9pm in C

I'd suggest that 40 years in an organisation is a reasonable time to retire from it.

True and that applies to other people leaving like Katty Kay, Louise Minchin, Will Gompertz, etc. BBC decisions might have something to do with it or general Covid encouraging lifestyle changes.
If you have been in the BBC for around 40 years … your pension deal is good …
And staying longer has all sorts of problems on payout and tax rules.
And you may feel that to take life a bit easier
and to freelance much/little as you want to do so,
(Staff who joined later and achieve 40 years don’t get a good pension
getting worser and worser at every revision )
Tim Davie announced a few months ago that the BBC News Technology team were moving from London to Glasgow. So no surprise at all that Rory Cellan-Jones is leaving now. This was his reaction to the news in March -

Don't forget also Rory was diagnosed with Parkinsons a couple of years ago. Upheaval to move 400 miles is not exactly a tonic for such a condition.
40 years, and the dept moving would seem to be a good time to opt out ?

To be honest, it depends a lot. There's the VLS scheme but that was based on approval. Ultimately, I suspect it's just been waived through based on the relocation element but it is a shame to see such a degree of broadcast talent leave in a relatively short time.
The pipeline that was talked about in the restructure is looking a little lop sided, to be honest.
I see the NC got it's 7:00pm hour back tonight (where as the past few Friday's it's been simulcast) and a live newsroom shot to boot!

I didn't see that hour but I know the 8:00 pm bulletin was simulcast with World. Shaun Ley opened with a time check (either he forgot that it was a simulcast or it was a last minute change) and then gave a very warm welcome (along the lines of "and our viewers around the world are most welcome to join us") to viewers on World after the headlines and recorded newsroom pan.
For us World viewers, I hope that as the pandemic slowly ends we will still manage to have regular glimpses of Studio E and its newsroom background. There's something about a real newsroom that's much better than a projection of a skyline or video of a newsroom. The nearly empty newsroom during the Newsday rehearsals and pingdemic was still better to me than Studio C's skyline or newsroom projections.

I cannot watch BBC News when anchored by Burak or Ley. I just personally find them both appalling presenters and can’t fathom the amount of airtime they are given.
How much longer do we the viewer have to put up with this?
Both IMO are appalling, it’s embarrassing:

I agree that Burak isn’t great, from what I’ve seen. She’s been around for years with the BBC, but not always news reading; I remember when she was the weather presenter on East Midlands Today about 15-20 years ago.
I’m not really a BBC News fan, but I guess the management must be happy with these staff members’ performances.
