I don't think the astons will change much but surely they can't keep the tired 13 year old Lambie Nairn titles with their new animated BBC blocks motif which reimagines the globe as three blocks. They just don't go together.

The graphics will almost certainly not be changing. It's only been a few weeks once the last service to switch to them (BBC Persian) launched. The lower thirds and DOG, Locator, etc style is here to stay.

Agree that the BBC NEWS tile and DOG will change to the new News logo when that launches later this year. Not sure about new audio branding.

Mmm maybe the new style will be similar to the new elements of 2019? (the regions intros and BBC World News and BBC News channel "next" bumpers?). It makes sense now that they hadn´t updated the titles to remove Gill Sans in the city names of the titles.

I hope that the new music continue with the "beeps". I agree that the orchestra is overused: it should only remain maybe on the countdown.

I'll be very disappointed in October if we get the new BBC logo printed onto the same 13 year old title animations, with very little change to the general BBC News look, feel and sound.

Other than the lower thirds, things have been virtually the same since the move to New Broadcasting House and this would be a huge missed opportunity.

When the current BBC Logo was launched in 1997 it was just overlayed on to the same titles during the virtual set (granted that was a much superior look for BBC News which wasn't stale and hadn't been going for about 500 years).

As we know this is the BBC and they like to do things in stages.

The look has been virtually the same since 2008!

To me that doesn’t feel that long ago but when you think that was the year of the financial crash, Gordon Brown was PM, George W Bush was US president, the Beijing olympics… no such thing as Brexit or Covid.

It would be ridiculous to have the biggest BBC-wide rebrand in 24 years and not touch the news. It's one thing to just replace the logo on something relatively new, but to do so on something long past it's sell by date.

Just as long as any rebrand of news is a well thought out, coherent and high quality effort like 1999 or 2008, not a cheapo in-house effort like the 2004 Clamshell design. I’m worried we’ll end up with something basic and uninspiring like the regional news titles, or BBC Parliament’s cycling branding. Hopefully though it’ll be something decent, as part of the wholesale BBC rebrand.

The gallery used to overlay the Signing for News Channel didn't realise they were still in network (News Channel gallery hadn't switched them out), and cut to the next thing they were due to output. News Channel gallery then did the network switch to bring Victoria back in vision.

Would only have been obvious to the director and crew if watching an off air feed - wouldn't necessarily have been obvious in the Sport or Channel gallery if they were only monitoring studio (not network) output. That's the reason Victoria was oblivious.

As I've mentioned before, the 1997 logo was done in such a big bang fashion that Look North reedited their titles for the weekend (possibly only Saturday at that point?) editions to change the logo before a full relaunch on the Monday.

I seem to be alone in actually quite liking the orchestral/string additions to the music over the past decade.

But one thing I would like to see in a new set of countdown music is the inclusion of a touch of global instruments for BBC World News - sort of like those brilliant promo beds that Lowe did about four years ago. You could even have different versions for different times of day, depending on where it was prime time.

Seems we're back in E for the 8:00pm hour (with Clive on lates for the first time in a while) tonight where as last week they were in C to allow the late presenter to do 9:00pm as well.
