Olympic Breakfast won’t exist this year as we’ve known it in previous years.
Instead BBC news is being shown on BBC 2. Unclear in what format and as to whether it’ll be produced by the NC or World.
I can’t imagine Breakfast’s audience will be overly ecstatic to have no relevant news in the mornings.
It’d be great to see some kind of Breakfast on BBC TWO rather than hours of World bulletins.
Some wishful thinking here, but might be the opportune moment to raise the roof of that Breakfast studio. *couldn’t help myself

Can't see any news on Two during Breakfasts hours on schedule, just normal simulcast from 9:00. Hopefully Olympic Breakfast has news bulletins like the elections overnights.
Does this mean the regions and nations won't be producing breakfast bulletins for the duration? Is that what happened in previous years?

Can't remember about local bulletins but used to have normal Breakfast presenters in a different studio, this year is different with Sam Quek replacing Louise

And the BBC are unable to simulcast Olympic Breakfast on the BBC News Channel as they have in the past due to the rights deal with Eurosport (as live events will be taking place/shown during the programme).
Its a shame that due to Covid, BBC World News aren't broadcasting The Briefing at the moment (instead just generic world news with the WBR at half past) as it would make a reasonable substitute breakfast programme for the NC

There will be national and regional news in the BBC1 programme as per the BBC press pack. Presumably for the national and international news it will be 5-10 minutes of headlines and brief reports per hour

There has been various arrangements in the past:
2008 the breakfast slot on BBC1 came from Beijing as a BBC Sport production, but with bespoke news bulletins once an hour and regional news once an hour. Breakfast, minus regional news continued, at least on weekdays, on the BBC News Channel (and maybe BBC2 as well, can't remember for sure)
2012 the breakfast slot on BBC1 was again mostly sport, but presented by news and sport presenters and with news headlines read by the main presenters - which lead to the unusual situation of Hazel Irvine reading headlines about the Syrian Civil War and other non-sport topics. Presume regional news was included in this
2016 the normal Breakfast team did the programme but with a heavy Olympics focus
Just seen Ben Boulos do the network lunchtime news. Is this the first time he’s done a network bulletin? Not seen very much of him in the past but he was very good today.

Yes his first time, they use a variety now for the weekend lunchtime news. Agree he is excellent.

Absolutely. It's to see Ben get a bit more prominence. I know he's on World a lot but us domestic viewers deserve more of him!

Tim Wilcox was live from Studio C this afternoon and James Reynolds was yesterday afternoon on BBC World News, whilst the News Channel had their own presenters.
The evenings have been simulcast, i presume it's down to staff shortages and availability.
An oddity for the last regional opt during BBC Breakfast this morning. London and South East, which had been putting out their pan-regional bulletin from Tunbridge Wells earlier, broadcast BBC South's bulletin in sound only (over a Breakfast title card). The bulletin went out correctly with pictures in the South. Not seen Southampton used as the sustaining feed for a while (and in a way, I still haven't!)

This has always happened in the event that BBC London News suffers staff shortages (particularly when presenters get told all of a sudden to self-isolate). It annoys me every time this happens, as I usually have it on BBC One London most of the time…
