For many people, the World Service
is the BBC. It certainly used to be for me for many years! Programmes are also often presented as just being "from the BBC (from London)", whilst on the domestic stations they say the full name of the station (and seem to be embarrassed to be from London), e.g. "You're listening to Today on BBC Radio 4" as opposed to "This is Newshour, live from the BBC in London".
Although it must be said that, even though they are rather news-obsessed, WS produces quite a bit of non-news content too - but the volume of these has fallen in recent years, especially on the foreign language services (looking at the BBC Burmese Service here)
Whilst I agree that the BBC is probably best known for its news content, I don't think renaming N24 (and World, for that matter) as just the "BBC" will work, especially considering the vast number of other channels and stations they operate in the UK (as well as the other international television channels).
Referring to the World Service as just the "BBC" works because it's likely the only contact people have with the BBC - but if you're able to have access to satellite television for BBC World, you're more likely to be aware of the BBC's other services as well.

I can't speak for television, having not watched television news since the coverage of the Royal Funeral (and even then I opted to listen to the radio coverage with the TV on mute) and not regularly watching it before, but I will say that Evan Davis regularly refers to the briefing as a "Covid presser" on PM.

Now forget what "NewsTX1,2,3" is, I have no idea what these three circuits are for. My assumption is that the network switcher is a "parallel" system and there are no hierarchy or whatsoever, anyone can override the output circuit from any studio gallery. I guess whichever studio gallery you are in, you can just assign whatever studio feed to the transmission circuit labeled "Channel" (or "World" so it will be fed to World pres at Red Bee), and the NC will immediately switch to the desired studio feed.
The image above shows the network switcher device at Studio A, displaying that the feed of Studio E is currently being fed to the NC transmission circuit. So if you switch studio feeds for the NC, the network switcher display at all studio galleries will immediately update what studio is being fed to the NC transmission currently.
(Again, I'm just a nerdy TV viewer and a computer science undergraduate, if I'm wrong, anyone here can feel free to correct me and I'll be humbled to learn from you all

The soft opt/shadow switch kind of mechanism is pretty standard for switching between studios cleanly. It's very common in radio where there isn't a continuity suite, Radio 1 certainly hand between shows that way, I assume Radio 2 do too. BBC Local stations used to do it that way, I assume ViLoR hasn't changed that.
On the BBC News just now, I heard a short burst of the 1999 theme before mixing into the current theme. It’s very faint, but it’s there.

I noticed that Phillipa Thomas still welcomed “Viewers watching in the UK and around the world” on BBC World despite the fact that there was (unusually, due to Eurovision) no domestic simulcast.
The whole edition of the 2330 papers was done from the catwalk tonight. If didn’t actually look too bad but it would’ve been better if Lukwesa had a small table to put the papers on as she had to hold then the whole time.

Lukwesa Burak at 1900 – 2100, World simulcast with Phillipa Thomas at 2100 – 2230, then Lukwesa again.
Also the late bulletin started at 2359 but the EPG has shifted the programme to 2400.

TX1 is the TX line joined by BBC One during bulletins. I’m wondering which TX line does BBC1/2 join during the rolling news simulcast.
The TX line used by News Channel is now TX39, but it’s unlikely that BBC1 joins TX39 for Downing Street briefing special. (NC has BSL and the flipper rolls faster than BBC1)
