I wonder why it said BBC World News on the screen?
The overnight simulcast was in E so looks like they’ve just not changed the screens. It is weird for them to have the World news screen in E though usually they just keep the normal BBC news one on.

That was funny. Victoria is a bit all over the studio, usually, with papers everywhere, laptop, drinks, purse under the desk etc. I like an unpredictable presenter.

I don’t agree with that: it’s stood the test of time and is recognisable across every single medium. It surely needs updating so let’s see what happens next. I am not a fan of waking up and asking Siri what the latest news is to hear that particular piece of low key music so I’m all for change with that.
The pips were a genius idea and will forever stand the test of time. I can’t see BBC News moving away from that anytime soon.

I told David that the orchestral elements - by the British Symphony Orchestra, I'm assuming - was carrying the music and overpowering the electronic elements

I disagree with that, the pips are indeed good, but I really think that they have been flogged to death
I actually had a conversation with David about a year ago and I, too, can corroborate that he felt the orchestral elements were more to the BBC's liking than his. He favours returning to the original style, which I wholeheartedly agree with.
From the glimpses we've seen the new look graphics will be as radical a departure as the 1999 revamp was and therefore the sound should be too.
