An experienced anchor is what is needed. Similar to what Fox had with Shep.
Well they have a few them in the ranks. I think Dan Wootton would be quite capable of playing it straight though in such an event.

MSNBC have two ‘breaking news anchors’ - Chris Jansing and Brian Williams - to step in for live coverage when needed. The format and presentation generally changes significantly, with individual programme names dropped in favour of short, generic ‘breaking news’ titles.
On the other hand, LBC just keeps rolling with whoever’s on air at the time. It helps that they have journalists with decent news backgrounds on weekdays 7am-7pm when news is most likely to break, but I don’t think they take David Lammy or Rachel Johnson off the air for unexpected breaking news.
Been watching this from afar, going to be a very curious little channel I think. I don't know what to expect from them but they do want to make a splash and I'm personally hoping it won't be as personality driven as it feels like it wants to be once it gets established.

The BBC launched a new Ku truck just last month, UKI 1961.
The more that gets announced the more I think there's going to be a hell of a lot of trial and error involved in its initial year. Things like the Andrew Doyle show I think will get RT style viewing figures and not last very long at all. I still think Dan Wootton is going to be incredibly unpopular amongst all viewers and can't see why they think he's going to be any kind of draw.
I can see the bigger names getting reasonable viewing figures but outside of that I'm just not sure that casual viewers will stray so far down the EPG, especially when there's never been a good reason for mainstream audiences to go further down the news section of the EPG than Sky News.
In terms of presentation, do we know if GB News will have presenters based across the UK, possibly in their own home studio set ups, giving GB News a less London centred focus, and offering flexibility and not relying on large studios in central London.

I find it likely that if they need that sort of facility, they'd just get freelance camera ops who have their own Ka/Ku vehicles.
When it was first announced I was very skeptical, thinking it would be a right wing opinion channel.
But some of the recent signings, plus Niel's interview with Amol seem to suggest it'll be far more impartial that first imagined.
It'll be interesting to see how those graphics animate and how the logo is integrated into the lower thirds (assuming they have any).
I really hope they don't go with a CNN or FOX style for the lower thirds, way to unnecessarily large with too little information.
I can't see myself watching the opinion shows, but will give Andrew Neil a try, despite the awfully titled "Wokewatch" feature as he's a capable presenter who can give any guest a hard time, regardless of their political stance.
It's only fair that I try the daytime news format. I'm dubious about having Alexandra Phillips on daytime in a supposedly 'impartial' slot but before she was known for working for Cambridge Analytica and as a MEP in Brussels, she was a journalist at ITV Tyne Tees, ITV Wales and BBC Wales, so will be interested to see if they've hired her for her previous skills as an impartial journalist or for opinion?
But when you have a line-up including Kirsty Gallacher and Simon McCoy in daytime, it's only fair to give it a try before completely judging it based on their hirings for the opinion shows.
I think it's important to actually watch GB News before making any judgements - as others have pointed out, the past few announcements and Neil's interview with Amol have shown a more impartial side to the channel. I think a lot of the 'Fox News' comparisons were drawn from Neil's comments about the format, and have been taken the wrong way. It'll be interesting to see whether the hosts known for their opinion try to stay impartial or are openly biased, although obviously they'll have to abide by Ofcom guidelines.
