Looking at the video that the BBC posted. Do some of the ident edits start in one location then move to another one, like skateboarding in a warehouse to market, or was it just edited that way to show them all in the compilation.
That segue from the trailer endboard, to the trampoline ident into the Question of Sport intro looked really good.
I think for the first time in over a decade, BBC One has a consistent look across the channel with no 'hang on elements' from previous half hearted tweaks/refreshes.
Another brilliant ident there with Hall - Trampoline. Not as exciting and upbeat as Warehouse, but still a great ident.
The lens effects don't last for long enough for my liking - certainly not on the trampoline one that just aired before A Question of Sport.
These idents almost strike me as a "best of" conflation of Rhythm and Movement, Circles and One-ness. They're better visually than One-ness, undoubtedly, but I feel that they could have been more radical and creative still.
Trouble is tonight these idents are new, give it a few weeks we'll not see anything but skaters or trampolinests regardless of the fleeting images in the lens. That's when they become oneness v2.
I have to be honest - I watched the ident and my thought process went thus:
"Ah, people skating. This is nice enough, I suppose. Oh, the much discussed 'lens' effect! Oh, it's... a woman lying down in a dingy room somewhere... can't quite tell what she's meant to be doing... and there's some people jumping around and dancing somewhere as well now... oh, and they've both gone again. Crikey, that was very brief... And now it's just the skaters again... still just skaters... oh, the programme's starting. ... So what were the lying woman and people jumping around for? ... What was the relevance of them appearing fleetingly over the footage of people in a skatepark...?! ... Ehhh?"
Maybe I'm just thick but... hmm.

I like what I've seen so far, I understood that the life drawing and rave scenes were within the same warehouse, though I think they have the weakest visual common denominator since you can't see the warehouse in the lens.
I would also say that the lens effect could be ramped up more, it's quite subtle in movement and only seeing each of the other scenes once, a little quicker and maybe another rotation immediately after or possibly later in the ident could have worked better.

From what I’ve seen so far both on air and in the press teaser clip, I really like the Lens ident package and I think it is much better than Oneness. The layering of the graphics on the idents so that they disappear briefly behind live action objects as the camera pans is a really nice touch, and the Lens concept is a great twist on live action idents and can easily be adapted for different purposes.

I think it's just different ways of the space being used. At the start of the day it's being used as a skate park, in the afternoon it's being used as a life drawing class and at night it's being used as a venue for a rave. Our lives may be vastly different but this is how we're brought together.
...or that might just be my marketing side coming out with a load of buzzwords!

There is just no fun in them. The BBC HD ones worked because they really went for contrasting scenes turning the fairly mundane and everyday into something a bit more showbiz. These just cut to scenes which in no way connect to the main ident, and the effect is done so briefly and so poorly it's pretty much blink and you miss it. Considering it is the focus of the concept, quite literally arguably, you'd think they'd make it quite vibrant and noticeable, but they're all little more than moving wallpaper.
The BBC really should be aiming much higher than "better than Oneness", and indeed we should be looking for more out of them than that too. The BBC2 curves showed they can do it, but really does feel like these have been designed to be barely noticed rather than shout "This is BBC One" loud and proud. Probably doesn't help either that over the last six months they've concentrated on the better Oneness idents too, plus of course introduced the surrounding branding, which makes Oneness 2.0 even less of an improvement than it might otherwise have been.

I am not sure, but [mention]Thistle[/mention] did mention in the previous BBC One thread that there would be a sky ident, Sky - Daytime, Sky - Evening, and Sky - Night. I predict the mentioned sky ident would be news-safe.
