But that’s rolling news. Isn’t it different from a 30 minute news programme?

Probably the same as a clock on the BBC News channel, GMB, Breakfast etc when you do the same.
To be they seem slightly bare, like there should be a logo somewhere. But I like them on the whole and it is good we have proper idents after all this time.
That's a good point - would the old logo centred on screen look better?

Just did a quick edit - hid the logo behind the lens (doesn't work the way I screenshotted it)
Couldn't (be bothered to) remove the new blocks but I presume you mean something like this?

With the comparisons between the Lens and the Virtual Globe, why not go old-school?

The logo was a bit smaller than that on the circle idents, it should be able to fit entirely inside the Lens.

Now that I like. As much as I loved the 90s "1" always though it looked a bit dated but in this guise it looks really contemporary.

You mean multiple clocks being uncovered by the lenses?
I read this as needing multiple clocks for the different feed delays that would pop up - one lens for Freeview, one for Sky, one for those watching 30 seconds behind on iPlayer...
(I am enjoying watching these go out live, the ambience combined with the tone BBC1's continuity announcers have is a good fit, better than the last set. An internal call did present these and teased that 'the best is yet to come', so the new sets and Christmas should mean a few more memorable ones in store...)
after having the idents for a few days now I must say they are growing on me. would be nice to hear them clean though to hear the soundtrack for once
BBC1 now using Freeze the Fear stings. Saw one with Holly earlier with just a close up of her face and logo, but no lens effect.
Just seen the Creative Director at BBC Creative post on LinkedIn that the market sequence was filmed in Southwark near Tate Modern - in case anybody was interested.

Interesting they go on to say "The iconic ‘O’ returns", probably confirming that this is in a sense a spiritual successor to the circles.
Seeing as there are going to be 24 idents in total, with 18 currently on air and Lido on the way bringing the current number to 21. Could the final 3 be Christmas idents?
