The BBC don't own the name Strictly. It's derived from the movie Strictly Ballroom.

Indeed, it's only the "Come Dancing" part of the title that is by permission.

Interesting to read Ofcom's top ten most complained about programmes of 2021.

Nine out of ten complaints were about ITV programmes - and the majority of those are from the ITV Daytime schedule.



Doesn't make for especially pretty reading from ITV's perspective!

It can be argued that providing provocative output that generates comment is better than just providing bland output that nobody engages with.

All this just encourages people to complain at the drop of a hat, like we see all the time, where people complain to Ofcom about parts of a programme’s known format.

Good Morning Britain cancelled between Christmas and New Year, the last live show will be Christmas Eve with Christmas Day pre-recorded and the next live show to be on Tuesday 4th January 2022.

Also GMB / Lorraine going back to their lockdown presentation for this week with GMB with Lorraine airing from 9am-10am although Lorraine is not presenting.

Yeah, replaced by a CITV simulcast.

I'd argue as well that live content (which is much of the ITV daytime schedule) is more likely to attract complaint than pre-recorded output.

Wouldn't be surprised if Lorraine has been pre-recorded already for that week.

That week is usually pre-records, Lorraine looking back at her favourite interviews from the past year

J ames Martin is already on in the afternoon on Christmas Day followed by Ainsley Harriott so more cooking doesn't look too good.

I really don’t understand what the point is of a cooking show at 2pm when everyone is either sitting down to eat or doing final preparations. Even 12pm is a bit of a stretch.

Still, at least they don’t have their usual 3pm - 6pm schedule this year, and we have a film instead.

ITV2 are getting rid of the repeats of Emmerdale and Coronation Street from next year. Not too surprised by this given that they moved the omnibuses to ITV3 a while back, and most people are probably using ITV Hub to catch up on them instead.
