From the way the various articles have been worded it sounds like one person is guaranteed to walk away with £500k at the end. Assume it'll be a bit like Poker Face where there's two left at the end and they have the choice to gamble or not. Whoever gambles wins and if both gamble then the actual 'winner' wins.

I wonder how low ITV’s special COP26 real red programmes will rate this week. I can see them doing pretty badly even ones like the one Joanna Lumley is hosting which is effectively a spin off of her popular travelogue.

If that's the case then a contestant on the first show is at an unfair disadvantage compared to someone on the second to last show who can get into the final after one performance.

Unless the cash out offers start out high and decrease as time goes on and are indicative of each singer's ability/chance of winning, which is fairer.

With a 4 night run of Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? Celebrity Special's from the Tuesday to Friday before. Which seems like more rather odd scheduling. Seeing as they're all Celebrity editions, almost feels like they'd have sat better on a Saturday night (with maybe Beat the Chasers getting a strip week instead).

Looks like An Audience With... will also return on the 21st (first episode since Les Dawson in 2013 if Wikipedia is to be believed):

Saturday is too competitive for WWTBAM and it needs protected.

If Moneyball drops in its second week then ITV will have to move it elsewhere.

I don't get what you expect ITV to air on Saturdays if you want to protect higher quality shows but axe the low rating, lower quality stuff?

Couldn’t you have said the same for Beat the Chasers though? And they still used that on a Saturday night.

All I meant by this was that as a whole series of celebrity specials, it feels better as a weekly show.. not nightly.

The heck is so important on the Monday at 9 that they can't move it?

EDIT: Looked on the press centre's website and it's football, which is understandable.

Seems a bit odd to be airing Celebrity editions. You'd usually expect them at Christmas.

I take it these are recorded earlier in the year and so likely to be without audience?

It's not about protecting higher quality shows per se, but if people choose to watch The Wheel over WWTBAM then more damage is done to that brand than if, for example, Beat The Chasers was shown because "The Chase" will still exist in its daytime form and people will continue to watch it.

ITV need to keep as many brands as healthy as possible and, at the moment, having WWTBAM weeknights is the best way of doing this, not taking into account the fact that it won't get a decent lead-in on Saturday.

But to answer in short, they could swap Moneyball with Family Fortunes and keep Catchphrase and The Chase (both celebrity editions) where they are. No way is it ideal because FF is a repeat but that's what ITV are stuck with, in part because they have decided to hold back so much until next year.

Starstruck could have aired now but instead it's going to go after Walk The Line, The Masked Singer and The Voice, which is sure to harm its chances.

I wonder if that fifth episode of millionaire was meant to air on 21st November but was moved back a week because of the Adele special.
