It’s not been on the shelf for a long time. Filming was delayed due to set malfunctions.

After seeing Moneyball I think it probably should have been left on the shelf. Just a weaker version of The Wall, Hardball and Rolling In It all rolled into one - very slowly by a rather unimpressive set piece.
Yes it just felt a bit basic and like it was lacking something? The fact that most of the players chose the same spot to release the ball (or however you want to phrase it) was a bit poor for adding excitement across the first episode.
I wonder if they could add some jeopardy in x2 the money if you release the ball at the highest point or something. I’d love to see how the current version compares to the one which caused filming to be delayed, as they reportedly couldn’t get the mechanic working?
Another tepid gameshow and another reason to avoid ITV Saturday nights. Format is awful and the set is nothing we haven't seen before. Ian Wright is OK.
Apparently, Moneyball got 1.6m last night.
In contrast, Strictly managed 8.9m.
With only a week and a half until the first recording date, Simon Cowell has pulled out of appearing on Walk the Line, and will be replaced by Gary Barlow:

Seems very strange to pull out at such short notice, especially if that’s the reason. Wonder if the accident at AGT has had something to do with it?
Not a fan of Barlow, didn’t like him on X Factor. Although admittedly he’s quite a big name to book at that kind of short notice.

Yes - that’s all very odd. It basically seems to read that Simon won’t be coming to the UK until the new year when he’s due to do BGT auditions? I wonder if this means he’ll be continuing with the AGT show and the dates now clash?
Agree with Barlow, it makes the show less appealing to me to be honest. Beside Simon, I was looking forward to it being different to XF with the judges involved.

Oh that makes it even stranger then. Unless he’s now due back in the States to finish AGT Extreme and this is the only way to remove him from the ITV commitment?
I do feel that Cowell back with a new singing show has bigger appeal than Gary Barlow, Mabel & Craig David on a panel - but yes, let’s see what the format is like. Not looking hopeful now though… considering how much Simon was raving about this new idea in the press release!!

Press releases are always full of guff in order to create excitement.
One possible flaw with Walk The Line especially in the current climate is that contestants will decide to cash out rather than playing on and ending up with nothing, thus ensuring that nobody wins 500k.
Cowell shows are often better without Cowell dominating. I quite liked Gary Barlow on The X Factor but he was very much marmite - people wither got his humour or didn't. Interesting choice though - I didn't think there was much love lost between the two of them.
To be honest if it was a scheduling issue I think ITV would happily reschedule the whole show to accommodate Cowell so I think there is more to it than that.
I must say I’m a huge fan of Bling with Gok Wan. Great format. Much better than Real Deal.
