With Walk The Line flopping (down to 1.8m last night), ITV's record with new entertainment this year has been terrible. Only TMD and Lingo have performed.
ITV have to get away from the idea that people winning huge amounts of money can make a programme because it doesn't. Catchphrase and The Chase/Beat The Chasers aren't programmes they can build Saturday nights around either so they need to aim higher. Something fun and not cutthroat.

Exactly, and with a bit of reshuffling they look to have big shows to anchor the schedule through most of 2022 now with The Masked Singer, Takeaway, BGT and Masked Dancer taking them through to the summer and The Voice probably moving to Autumn, with the World Cup cutting the year slightly short.
David Walliams was somewhat pessimistic about whether BGT will be able to film as planned in January yesterday on This Morning but if not they can move The Voice (already filmed) up and push it back to autumn.
So although they haven't got an X Factor or Strictly style smash hit at the moment they do have a solid if not spectacular line up of returning shows for the bulk of next year beyond the reliable game show formats that have dominated Saturday nights this autumn.
The scheduling for the Voice Kids seems bizarre this year, after being a summer show with 8 episodes, this year it's been reduced to 3 episodes over three nights from the 27th-29th December. I've not seen any promotion for it so far yet, so feels to me a bit as if they're trying to bury the show which is a shame as I prefer it to the adult version!

The Voice still has to film the semi final but it shouldn't be an issue if it gets moved up.
I'd probably say Starstruck will air in February once Limitless Win is done and dusted which fills seven weeks nicely.

It was filmed ages ago as well, and it would’ve done a lot better than The Void which they aired in that slot. They’ve got another series next year which is filming in February.

Agreed. We really enjoyed it last summer & thought the level of talent was actually better/more enjoyable than the adult version.
I don't quite understand this decision from ITV because it was holding a fairly decent audience in the summer months, like above, it certainly would've been an improve on some of the shows there this year. Plus variety to the gameshow schedule too.
If they want a Christmas to New Year strip show, I'd love to see a Christmas themed Masked Singer... the costumes easily lend themselves to a tree, present, star etc. But I guess you'd then want to shuffle the main series a bit further away from it.
I expect The Voice Kids has moved away from Summer to accommodate the adult version moving there in 2022. Although I guess that might now be pending BGT going ahead.
It’s been a terrible few months for them but their 2022 slate looks solid, and they’re taking some risks by moving The Voice to launch Limitless Win and Starstruck.
It seems with these shows it's often one extreme or the other - either too dragged out or just cut far too short, and one of the biggest criticisms of The Voice since the live shows were drastically cut is you just don't get to engage with the finalists.
I don't even get how this will work in the context of The Voice - is it basically "Congratulations on passing your first audition. You're now in the final". Will the judges just have one or two picks each? Is there a middle stage in the middle show with all the blinds rushed through in episode 1? Surely a BGT/X Factor style cull with kids at Christmas wouldn't feel very festive.
They probably could have got away with five shows with three audition shows, a semi-final of some sort and then the final - but three just feels like they might as well not have bothered.

I believe with Voice Kids the first 2 episodes are blind auditions, with 4 picks per coach.
Episode 3 is the final (2 hours!). Looks like each team does a group performance (or a group battle) with one winner being selected from each performance. Those are the final 4 who then do a solo performance to win.
Agree it seems very rushed and given that ITV are only showing repeats for 2 nights afterwards they could easily have given it another one or two episodes.
No BGT/XF style cut although it sounds like the adult version is introducing one with this ‘Callbacks’ round they’ve brought in.

It does seem very odd. Although it fills 3 nights between Christmas and New Year without them having to show the same movies over and over.
It makes me wonder why ITV keep commissioning so many Saturday night type shows like The Voice and The Voice Kids and then have 3 months with back to back game shows Sept-Nov and then no space for The Voice it seems on Saturdays in January.
If Starstruck is successful it could get a second run later next year whereas The Voice is on a downwards slide and I don't think it will ever gain traction.
Given how long Starstruck has been on the shelf I wouldn't hold out much hope for that - but of course sometimes such shows can become a surprise hit like Rolling In It was having been on the shelf for a year or two.
Interestingly, Adam Lambert is currently on Lorraine discussing Starstruck, with a clip shown.
