So, do you remember when last year, the BBC launched this new streaming service for North America known as BBC Select, and everybody noticed a ''dud'' BBC logo replacing the familiar logo that we all know and love? Well apparently it will indeed be the new official logo of the BBC in a Corporation -wide rebrand https://cleanfeed.thetvroom.com/9074/opi...or-months/
I never wished for something to be considered "fake news" more than this.
That article comes across as an opinion piece rather than the writer knowing anything concrete.

Same for me, but I have to admit, the first time I saw that BBC Select logo, with that different BBC logo, deep down inside I knew that was going to be the BBC's new logo as a whole....

To be honest, Clean Feed actually blocked me on twitter, but logging out I saw a brief exchange that they had, and somebody asked if the BBC themselves confirmed it, and they said this https://twitter.com/cleanfeed_ttvr/statu...1738950663
Strange things are happening...

These are very strange times as well though
I think the new logo looks alright and the old one looks dated. Bite me.
Wait till the Daily Mail find out how much that cost.

Indeed, sometimes it's like the BBC gives away free ammo to it's critics
I was just watching BBC One a few minutes ago during a programme transition, and saw a bizzare new Trending on the BBC campaign. Strange times.....
As an overseas reader (where my only exposure to the logo are on Youtube, app and online), I think the readers need time to adjust to the new style.

The shrink in font size is a step back. An intention of MLN's 1997 design, as we all know, is make the words clearer in fine print than the 1988 logo. After shrinking the images of different logos myself, I think that the new logo's readability falls in between the 1997 and 1988 looks: the counters not as chunky as 1997, but they don't disappear like 1988. To those accustomed to the big, Gill Sans look, it's certainly worse.

Alas, I do hope the one we're seeing now is a prototype, much like the BBC1 globe and BBC2 redesigns were amended from the crude look to the styles viewers know and love.
Now all the BBC needs to do is ditch Eric Gill's "statue" outside of Broadcasting House.

These have been running a few weeks now. Similar in style to the All4 ads but not executed anywhere near as well IMO.

Thank you for your detailed explanation, but I fear it's no prototype, the new BBC logo is not only in use on BBC Select, but also on BBC Kids (which is a brand new BBC channel for Australia), so it's already being used on air
