All BBC channel logos worldwide will presumably be changed simultaneously, except for BBC Select and BBC Kids which already use the new blocks, even if they just slap the new logo on the old idents.
So is this stream of three columns part of the new look then?

Even more noticeable is that all national (Radio 1, 2, 3 ,4, 5 Live, etc), nations (Radio Scotland, Radio Cymru, Radio Ulster, etc), local, and international (BBC World Service) BBC radio stations will change their logos simultaneously.

The BBC Select design package posted earlier uses something exactly the same as those trending trailers, so I guess so.

All BBC Local Radio stations changed their logos only last year, are they really going to change them again so soon? If so, that seems like rather bad planning.
I think it is perfectly legitimate for an organisation to optimise their logo rather than go for something radically different. It retains the key feature that will make it recognisable.
However, the Reith logo cannot just be slapped on the existing presentation, it will stick out like a sore thumb because it's proportions and spacing are different. It is changing so they should be using it in a different way.
That BBC Select animation does work so I am expecting that the rest of the presentation BBC-wide will change to make best use of the new logo as a complete system. I do doubt however that the BBC will pull that off given the slow Reith rollout.
I find Reith a distinctive font, calling back to features of Gill Sans that others have mentioned, but within the scope of having to be a readable, accessible, information delivery font. Channel 4 did it better with Chadwick and Horseferry but Reith works well.

I sure hope so as it’s a great look if that’s the route they’re going down! I’m interested to see how they translate this into the channel branding such as BBC One etc.

Absolutely right! I’ve carried out rebrands for companies that have wanted to retain the characteristics of their existing logos because they are so recognisable and synonymous with their brand.
To be fair, I think they should just do an official reveal a few weeks leading up to the rebrand on-air, for example during a junction prior to the BBC News at 6 (in the case of BBC One), and just unveil when the date of when the rebranding is taking place, in addition to revealing the new logos for BBCs One, Two, Three, Four, CBBC and CBeebies, as well as BBC iPlayer, BBC Sounds, BBC News and BBC Sport, and even the BBC Radio stations.

Why would they do that? It should never be about the rebrand as far as companies are concerned, it's about the product. Most people also don't care two hoots about rebrands - especially one like this where 99% of people wouldn't be able to tell the difference between the two sets of blocks.
It's a bit like the new Cadbury logo. Most people wouldn't be able to tell the difference, and Cadbury didn't make a fuss about revealing it, instead gradually phasing it in on various products. Sound familiar!?

I just think the three columns thing works so well across all platforms and even landscape/portrait which I do think is the big battle/challenge in design in the 2020s.
You know when I joked that the new BBC logo looked like it had been designed in Microsoft Excel in five minutes. Turns out, I wasn't joking...

I keep thinking about it, and while tv channels using 3 blocks aren’t at all few and far between, I honestly think they could get away with being a lot more daring than this - I love the block animations for the Select brand, and I would love to maybe see them experimenting with blocks without any text at all and utilising that as an icon instead.

Well try and recreate it that accurately in Excel and we'll see if you have a point. Of course, given that the letters are bespokely drawn you will have a bit of a problem there.
