Hmm, it's a nice ident but I'd rather the BBC logo was in white. It doesn't look right in gold.
It looks very sombre, but I agree the blocks should have been in white

Personally I think the gold works well against the background, but I do feel white would have been better given how that's the colo(u)r the BBC logo is.
That family ident is only on BBC One but not on Two… What can we expect before Newsnight on 2 and The Papers on 1?

I can't see why they can't just show regular programming as long as none of it's inappropriate, or at least find some programming to show as an alternative for people who don't want to watch the news coverage, feel like exactly the sort of thing the BBC should be offering on one of its outlets. It's not as if the news isn't there and easily accessible for those who want it.
I couldn't agree more. For the same reasons Channel 4 has gone back to normal early, the BBC is supposed to hit everyone and part of that remit is providing an alternative. BBC Four should have been used to show a mix of the originally planned One, Two and Four schedules. To just take it off air and not even simulcast News is, to my mind, crazy.
I daresay Netflix and Amazon will do a brisk trade tonight.

Re: CBeebies - only seen it on the caps but I'm not a huge fan of that. I just think it's badly phrased too and unnecessarily alarming - clearly a generic announcement designed for significant events. I think an occassional pop up, maybe in the BBC News style, actually saying what the news was and pointing people to BBC1 would be better and be less alarming for younger children.

Us pres geeks/fans are really being treated today, obviously in sad circumstances, first that special news report slide on the BBC and then the first outing of the a family ident since Diana's death; as the protocol for QEQM in 2002 was for each channel to use their own packages

The Papers will probably just be a continuation like it is on the News Channel? A still of one of the less busy BBC Two idents would do for Newsnight.
