Tallking of the curtain, I'm surprised they're in E at all, I thought they usually did obit rehearsals in C?
Most of the shopping channels that went off air earlier, are now back on air. However, the presenters on two of them are wearing black, and one other channel has the presenters wearing black, but in the corner, it says "replay". QVC still off air.
Does anyone know how the likes of QVC handled things, when the news was announced?
Sky News are still showing the Daily Climate Show but doing a tribute to Prince Philip's climate work at the start.

Bearing in mind that BBC News first announced the news of Prince Philip's passing at 12:04pm, I find it interesting that they continued with Jeremy Vine (presented by Vanessa Feltz due to Vine being on holiday this week) for a further six minutes thereafter, trailing a call-in segment about travelling in a post-COVID world which would never air.
I believe the start of the programme may have been pre-recorded so I'm not surprised that Vanessa didn't react to the news live herself, but I am surprised that someone behind the scenes didn't just play a couple of fairly calm, inoffensive tracks until they were ready to make the announcement formally rather than start the show as normal after the midday news only to build up to something which was never going to come to fruition and then yank her off mid-sentence.
I think that is the right call though rather than an awkward period in limbo where clearly something is up. Yes, it is a brutal cut (I was listening to Radio 1 at the time) but it is very effective at saying that this is news of significance.

Presumably rehearse in C as E will be in use. All the newsreaders probably far more comfortable in E.
I notice that ABC News in Australia has switched to black clothing so I assume it's protocol for all Commonwealth countries, not just the UK as it's the same for CTV in Canada.
I have been really impressed with ITV's presentation today, it is nice that all the astons have been changing from white to gray.
The BBC obit titles have been okay. I'm intrigued to see what if we'll get any individual channel idents tonight

Vanessa was live on ITV with Ruth and Eamonn until about 10.50. Perhaps that affects her radio work? Maybe some of it is pre recorded.

I'm not sure about them. Perhaps would work better with a grey and black version of the ITV News logo and live strap - or dark purple. The teal takes away the sombreness IMO.
