Oh they are better than what they used to be. TV identification went through a stage where they picked some random real life scene involving people and then had a trip in some random font library and stuck it over the top of said scene.

Watching that Sky Showcase ident, I was expecting the section for the channel the next programme is from to open up, or something to identify that it comes from Atlantic or Comedy etc.

Now before I get flamed on this, of course there are noteable exceptions but during the 00s, it was everywhere. Some better than others. Perhaps I'm just old school and miss the days when there was a symbol. (getting old!)

I get you! All i’m asking is for channels to have a bit more fun with their branding again, like i’ve said before Sky Max is a really playful name and I don’t really feel like they’ve done much with it.

Maybe i’m just stuck in the 2000s, but for a channel that’s called something like Sky MAX it’s just… eh. Don’t know why i’m complaining so much anyway, it’s not like Sky won’t fiddle around with the idents again and give everything a random logo refresh in about a year when they remember they need to use their budget up. I’m just saying, it feels flat!
That freeze frame of the winking cop just looks weird, couldn't they have chosen another graphic for Sky Witness?
Quick question for those in the know…. Why did Sky faff about turning Sky One into Sky Max and moving it to EPG 113? Couldn’t they have just turned it into Sky Showcase on 106 and just launched Sky Max as the new channel on 113?
Seems like a lot of bother for no reason?

Yes, it seems a bit complicated, especially since One +1 has become Showcase +1
But I guess it's because to make people understand they're not about to lose the main bulk of the Sky One shows, which will still be on Sky Max
Yes… but it wouldn’t have changed the channel numbers… Max would still be on 113 but as the “new channel”. Showcase could’ve just been the rebranded Sky One and it would’ve just stayed where it was, just rebranded.
Like I say, seems unnecessary.

Sky Showcase and Sky Max are showing the same programme. On NOW, Showcase is showing without a pin prompt, on Sky Max, I've had to put the pin in.
