Noticed that the Evening News tonight are using a quite nice looking outside set in Hyde park.

It has a base much like the one seen at their studio with a standing desk coated in ITV branding.

I wonder if we'll be seeing this new 'set' pop up a bit more often now that restrictions have been eased a bit.

Edit:

It could possibly be used as the local election campaigning starts and they tour around the country. Has ITV announced any of their plans?

I was thinking the same thing. I don't think they've announced their plans yet.
So to carry on tradition;

any caps?

I should hope not. This is the news we're talking about. I don't think the presenters should be wearing any sort of informal headwear.

...oh, you mean captures...

I tried to get one at the beginning but ITV have changed the privacy settings on the hub so my caps turned out at blank screens.

I did manage to get this though. When it gets uploaded to the Hub for catch-up I'll attach the wider shots.

Do ITV News usually have a local elections programme? Unless I have missed something, I thought they only usually have special programmes for UK and US elections. Or are you talking about coverage during scheduled bulletins?

I was thinking more along the lines of a range of programmes leading up to the election. Rather than a programme itself.

Must say, the desk looks smart, and should potentially work for any future outside broadcasts they do.

I can do you one better than 'caps' - you can watch the whole thing here if you want to see it:

That desk looks like the sort of table you get at trade shows or chuggers set up in a shopping centre.

May as well have not bothered, it would've been far easier!
During the Evening News preview on ITV News Anglia, I thought it looked better on a tighter shot.

Oh that has surely got to be something to do with the local elections. As someone said upthread, I bet they are going to go on tour around the country. It seems a bit too permanent to be a fluke. I bet they decided to use it today given the nice weather and the lockdown easing news.

Speaking of which, I assume ITV News will be covering the local elections as well as the BBC, right through the night?
