I don't think dropping it entirely is right though- even if it airs at lunchtime instead it should air.

Well, indeed, as the Beeb have often done when they've had live events at teatime.

I mean, I know it's hardly the essential service it used to be, as you suggest, but arguing "doesn't matter, you could just go online or watch the Beeb, the bulletin is a waste of time" just suggests that they should stop doing it completely if it's that pointless and unnecessary. I don't think it's that outrageous a suggestion that they can squeeze in five minutes of regional news at some point on a Saturday.
Also as well, not to hammer the point home, but there was no need for the rugby coverage to start at 4pm because there was another match still going on at the time, so most people interested in rugby would have been watching that. They may as well have done the news at four and started the coverage at 4.15.

I'm not that bothered about the regional news but people bend over backwards to excuse this in a way they would never do for other channels.
I was slightly surprised they didn't put the regional news at the end of the late news if they really couldn't find a slot in the evening. Ultimately, it's one day with exceptional circumstances so it's hardly the end of the world.
Is Lucy Watson a regular on the London team? Caught her for the first time on the national news last weekend and once again tonight.

The "exceptional circumstances" were that they wanted to do 45 minutes of build-up to the rugby, and then didn't want to do it after the match. Wouldn't call that "exceptional", really.

Yeah, I guess so. How long was the bit after the match which I've never understood?

I was surprised they couldnt fit in the regional news yesterday given its only about 6 minutes on weekends. I wouldn't have expected them to show it late however as 14 different news teams across the UK would have had to stay late on a Saturday. Having a bulletin at lunchtime would have been better if they couldn't fit in the usual teatime bulletin. I believe they did that once before.
Caption graphics seem a little glitchy this evening with them either getting stuck on the screen or partly disappearing after they’ve animated.

No she isn't. It's that whoever does the national news bulletin at weekends does the London regional bulletin as well.
I expect Chris Choi’s live report will no go viral due to Essex’s finest embarrassing themselves behind him

Mary Nightingale hosting on a rare Friday due to the storm

Where was she deployed to? What an absolute waste of resources considering they've the same pool of regional reporters at their hands as The BBC.

I haven't seen one single presenter out for The BBC today and rightly so.

I don't think "deployed" was the correct word used by Andrew. Mary was presenting as usual in the studio. It's just rare to see her on duty on a Friday now.
I’ve changed it to avoid confusion
ITV Lunchtime News currently off air at the moment, due to technical issues.

EDIT: They couldn't return to the programme in time. Back to Weather now.

Yes, couldn't get to a live report from Peter Smith, then ITV News title card on screem whilst Nina tried to read another story. And the slot has now come to an end.
