CNN has been removed from the Virgin Media Cable TV service in the Republic of Ireland as of today. It’s a mad decision given that unlike the UK we can’t yet legally stream CNN online in the Republic of Ireland. I think CNN’s strategy of going down the subscription route is misguided and although streaming may be the future I cannot see how they can make a profit from it.

Though it remains to be seen if the video walls are washed out as the promo would appear. I also liked they decorated the walls of their newsroom with the CNN logo. Its likely not even going to make it on air. But unlike what we've seen from SKyNews and GBNews its been than just a plain white box. Well done to CNN Portugal.
From some previews, they are mixing CNN Brasil and CNNI-inspired graphics. And the set was not designed by Clickspring, but rather in-house by Media Capital/TVI chief set designer Catarina Amaro, and built by their EPC division.

That's how Portuguese news channels work. Lots of rolling news blocks with constant sports blocks and some long-form programmes in the evening and overnights.

The schedule really reminds me of GBN at its launch. You can pit the two schedules against each other and see almost completely similar start/stop times of each programming block.
CNN Portugal's launch is six days away.
They have adjusted some of the slot presented in that file, and announced some of the presenters that will anchor slots on the channels. The slots marked as
Programação CNN will feature programming from CNNI (like Vital Signs with Dr. Sanjay Gupta, CNN Business Traveler and Quest’s World of Wonder) and many CNN Original Series (including the CNNgo original series Mostly Human with Laurie Segall), most likely with Portuguese subtitles (not dubbed, as is the standard for Portuguese TV). This video also has a look at the title cards for each slot, all based on the CNNI Newsroom title card (except for the main CNN Novo Dia, Agora CNN, Jornal da CNN, and CNN PrimeTime, which are inspired by the title cards from CNN Brazil, although not exactly the same).

I'd welcome a change of direction to CNN US , and maybe some improvements to CNNI and HLN , the one way to do that would be to have Zucker leave. But, I'm not going to be jumping in excitement or anything until I see real changes in the future.
I noticed that CNN Portugal's website is now on-line, and it seems they will still carry-over some aspects of TVI 24 based on the program schedule. Specifically, starting their programming at :58, instead of TOTH.
And it's on! CNN Portugal is on air, with a special edition of their Jornal da CNN, with Judite Sousa (former RTP and TVI anchor) being the channel's first face. She will alternate with another TVI veteran (and former managing director of regional superstation Porto Canal), Júlio Magalhães. The channel launched with a shocking exclusive interview to swindler João Rendeiro, accused of fiscal fraud, bribery and falsifying of documents, an interview led by Magalhães.

I noticed that the newest licensees of the CNN branding gets the updated graphics, almost the same as the one being used by CNN International, including the titles, bumpers, flipper/ticker and other lower-thirds.
Meanwhile, early adopters such as CNN Philippines and CNN Indonesia are still stuck in using their own "improvised version" of the CNNI presentation.

On-demand catch-ups of 2 programs so far (21:00-0:00 timeband) have been up on CNNP's official website. In a very odd & surprising move, they keep all of the commercials in the original broadcast, and gives you highlights on the timebar that serves as a 2-minute heads-up that a break was coming. Remember all those yellow boxes appearing all over some of your favourite YT videos in the timebar? Well, this is an emulation.

The 'LIVE' and clock fonts seem to be different to the 'original' CNN though. If I recall correctly CNN Brazil has the exact same lower-thirds so quite surprising, especially how CNN Portugal seems to have taken a lot of inspiration from CNN Brazil.
