I just watched A360 hand over to Cuomo and then Cuomo to Lemon. It’s embarrassing that one of the biggest political stories of the moment is being ignored by the network’s highest rated show.

Chris Cuomo’s position is wholly untenable, his reputation is in ruins. He apologised the first time around for being involved and had done it again. It’s akin to this schmucks on Fox News who get away with whatever they want.

CNN anchors are always calling for Fox personalities to head to the exit. He’s gone too far this time.

Just goes to show how much of the audience is no longer that passionate about the channel. The damage they have done to the once wonderful CNNI is awful! It used to the the "go to" place for solid international news with great anchors, great coverage and great correspondents. Now, all that's left is a few hours of international news per day that can get bumped at a moment's notice if an American politician breaks wind.

They should have had Chris sit tonight out, I don't think he can legally mention it on the air as it's under investigation.

I see First Move has been reduced in length to 45 minutes now too; they are currently airing Marketplace Asia instead.
Most editions of Quest Means Business have been 45 minutes for a while, in order to fit in another 15 minutes of sponsored programming.

It's been a real pleasure watching 'Early Start' this week with Amara Walker in for Christine Romans. She's such an underrated Anchor. I can think of a handful of people Walker could replace on CNN. She's just fantastic.

Let's for a second talk, albeit hypothetically, about how we would rescue CNN International from its current shambolic state. I would definitely bring back Isa and Cyril's short-lived Your World Today.

Failing that, CNN Today with Amara and Michael is such a good show/pairing. Newsroom LA with Isha and John is another programme I really enjoyed. If we're talking early 2000s, CNN Today with Max and Monita worked well too.

Basically, in essence anything other than the current domestic shows would do well. I could, honestly, care less about Chris Cuomo as an international viewer.

All the channel needs to do is to return to how it was Pre-Covid and absolutely reinstate some of the shows you've mentioned. Newsroom LA will never come back. Not entirely sure what CNN would need that studio for anymore. I personally haven't seen it in use since Covid. HLN provides no output from it and CNN only use flash studios out of LA. I'm not entirely sure they utilised that studio enough when Newsroom LA was on air. Vause and Sesay spent more time anchoring alone than together, I kinda felt it was a botched job.

They need to funnel more output through London, that's where their problem lies. Pulling out of broadcasting from almost every other bureau they had really didn't help matters. Other than Atlanta, Dubai and London - where else does CNNI broadcast from? I feel Atlanta's days are numbered and as sad as it sounds I hope that to be the case. It's time for a new era and with that new studios - cue London, New York and where else?? Does anyone know if there'll be studios at Techwood?

As far as talent is concerned - they don't need any new talent, they need to utilise the talent they have and stop faffing about. It's deplorable how much English speaking talent are STILL off screen. Jess Zucker has no issue with giving Julia Chatterley (as documented, am not a fan) as much air time as he can, so why the hell can't he give anyone else the same. It comes from the top and as Zucker has shown no desire to step down, we are perhaps stuck with what we have - a rubbish sidekick to CNN Domestic.

Bring back an Asian Breakfast show, either from Atlanta, London, or Hong Kong. (replaces Blitzer and Burnett)

Create a new ME Breakfast show, either from Dubai, Abu Dhabi, or London. (replaces Cuomo and Lemon)

Move the European Breakfast shows to London and double head the most important two hours.

Bring back a European morning business show.

Bring back the The Brief with Bianco Nobilo and create a second version for Max Foster in his old slot. (replaces part of New Day and part of The Lead)

Rename First Move and give it and One World dedicated studio space.

I liked CNN Today, Michael and Amara were a pairing that worked, it's hard to get a good pairing but whoever figured out that working did a great job. I wasn't bothered Newsroom LA got canned, when I would watch it felt like they just talking about US politics more than doing anything else.

I think they should remove the primetime Cuomo and Lemon simulcast and have Newsroom editions from Atlanta, maybe have Your World Today be a European Morning show. Remove New Day and have Kristie Lu Stout back anchoring. Have a new Asia focused Morning show maybe have Michael and Amara do CNN Today again.

Either that or they should have all the US shows that simulcast be forced to include international news stories to justify their simulcast.

Amazing how CNN can be so quick to fire these three individuals yet Tobbin is still around and Cuomo has had no punishment/rebuke whatsoever.

But there’s not enough of it - programmes are shortened for tedious sponsored shows (how many shows can you do about African business or Dubai?) and while simulcasts have a place the volume of them is a joke - would anybody really suffer if CNNI no longer showed Early Start, Reliable Sources or Cuomo & Lemon. You can’t claim to be a World News channel and then air 8 continuous hours of Domestic-led simulcasts .

Meanwhile great presenters are left twiddling their thumbs - London in particular has a huge number of spare anchors for very few shows.

The way CNN has dealt with the Cuomo situation means they don't really have a leg to stand in the future lecturing any other news channel.

That's all fine and well, but CNN is a commercial outlet - it needs to make money. Those "tedious sponsored shows" bring in revenue. Simulcasting CNN US rather than producing live CNNI bulletins saves money.

I don't think there's much doubt that the pandemic is part of the story - and in that sense, we're still observing something of a temporary effect (especially with respect to London output). But I also suspect there's been a conscious shift in operational focus at CNN, which means that post-covid CNNI will not look the same as pre-covid CNNI. This is no longer the 1990's or early 2000's.

That's all fine and well, but CNN is a commercial outlet - it needs to make money. Those "tedious sponsored shows" bring in revenue. Simulcasting CNN US rather than producing live CNNI bulletins saves money.

It's true that the sponsored shows do bring in revenue and simulcasting does save money and there is some room for both on the channel.
However, the current level is a bit of a farce - it's supposed to be a news channel and it feels like it's stopped being that and it feels very unloved as a channel.

There's something wrong when 2 shows that were an hour long previously (QMB and First Move) have now had their time truncated to fit in sponsored programmes and One World is only 45 minutes long to allow a sponsored show to be fitted in and one of your primetime programmes and main anchors in Hala Gorani is bumped off so Stanley Tucci can talk about Italian food for the third time that day.
The volume of airings of sponsored shows at weekends too has been an issue at CNNI for well on a decade now to the point where even pre-pandemic it was quite infrequent to actually have a news bulletin at the top of an hour. Other news channels like Sky, Al Jazeera and BBC World News don't seem to have anywhere near the same level of taped programmes at weekends.

Some simulcasts do add value but CNNI currently has over 11 hours of Domestic simulcasts daily on weekdays and probably even more on weekends with much of that output very U.S politics heavy and covering little other news (particularly international). If they're that cash-strappped that they have to air that many domestic simulcasts it doesn't exactly suggest CNNI is long for this world - especially as CNN's focus seems to be on CNN+ (which feels like a misfire - who's going to pay for streaming news over say Spotify, Netflix, Prime or Disney+ instead or several cheaper, higher-quality news alternatives).

I mean CNNI are free to go in whatever direction they wish but if they continue on the current path any remaining viewers who want global news will probably move elsewhere and once you lose eyeballs it's not so easy to get them back - and I'm not sure there's as big a demand for Don Lemon, Wolf Blitzer and endless shows about Africa as CNN think.
