Some of CNN's lot aren't great but let's be clear Fox anchors are in a league of their own. And I wouldn't exactly say I particularly associate Hannity, Tucker Carlson and Laura Ingraham with having a particularly great sense of humour or self-awareness.

Agreed. As annoying as the likes of Cuomo can be, what they ramble on about is mostly based on facts. That doesn't make it any more watchable though and clearly the worst part of the day on CNN is the handover between Cuomo and Lemon.
I'm not saying they are better or worse. My point is that CNN should lay off its FOX News attacks when it has its own, very problematic people and issues, which they are pretty much ignoring.
Criticizing one network all the time while ignoring your own issues is not a good look.

No different to how Fox's hosts like Hannity and Ingram constantly saying that the media and the left are working together. I'm not saying this to make political points but FOX does plenty of attacks and even more of it like CNN.
Of course, but CNN US is supposed to be better than FOX. By doing the same thing and having some personalities which are not that different to FOX counterparts, I don't know how they can claim or act to be above FOX.
What I find worrying is that CNN under Jeff Zucker has become more partisan. I guess that is what gets eyeballs in a deeply polarized nation. On the day of Biden's inauguration, Jake Tapper kept talking about how Biden is a devoted Catholic and a great father. Chris Cuomo's transgressions fit into a pattern unfortunately. I have no problem with them holding FOX accountable, but they should be prepared to be held to the same standard.
I see State Of The Union is back presenting from Washington Studio A/B after a long mix of being in a flash studio and Studio D for over a year.

I'm afraid it shows how much society has moved to the right hand side of the political spectrum, and how far away the actual centre, the centre of the Overton Window truly is. It's not that they are calling out Trump when he made one of his many factual misstatements. But the way in which former White House reporter Jim Acosta made political theater out of the White House press conferences, made me an uneasy. They were trying to cater to an anti-Trump audience, probably realizing that the pro-Trump audience is watching FOX. The result, though, is that any reasonable Trump voters were totally turned off by CNN.

Any neutral observer looking at the Broadcast Networks of the United States could not but come to the conclusion that they all take a side. Some are much worse than others (Fox News) and some are pretty honest about it, (MSNBC) However, CNN is certain fair more to the left than it was even 5 years ago. It's not straight news.
The Main Broadcast Networks are better and more neutral but I would personally trust them either. In fact I tend not to trust ANY US Television News and haven't for a very long time. CNN US was one of the last ones I would have given up on but it's been on the slide now for years and I don't see a way back... I still have lots of time for CNN International when it's given it's own time and space.
Also, the Centre is a very different place depending on where you are in the states. People who regard themselves the Centre in New England are very far to the left of those who regard themselves in the centre in Northern Florida.

It just shows how much society's perspective has shifted to the right. I don't think CNN have moved at all, just that they, like many of us, got absolutely fed up of right wing lies and propaganda being allowed to spread unchecked. You can't have an honest both sides argument, if one side comes in with all the facts, and the other side comes in with nothing but lies and then accuses the other side of lying all the time. To use the old example, if one person says it's raining and the other says it's sunny, objectivity would require to look out the window, and discover the truth before reporting it, not to have both people on making deliberately contradictory statements.

It is really sad indeed. And the Facts First campaign, even if it’s not a bad idea on paper, only reenforces that partisan agenda. Another thing is that CNN International viewers had to support such agenda due to the decision to increase simulcasts due to the pandemic and the 2020 US election, and still have to do so, but in a much reduced scale as CNNI’s programming is being gradually reintroduced. Hope this doesn’t take too long…
Anyway, in other news, another CNN-branded affiliate channel is being introduced, this time in Portugal. Media Capital, owners of TVI, has signed a deal to rename its TVI24 news channel as CNN Portugal; additionally, TVI will be CNN’s exclusive affiliate for Portugal. The changes should take place this fall.

I think this is the case too. But the thing is, it doesn't work. CNN consistently rate third out of the three news channels, and the only time they out rate Fox and MSNBC is when they are covering big breaking news stories (eg the insurrection). Also their daytime, more newsy, shows are generally top of their timeslot. It's almost as if viewers turn to CNN for major news, but not for their regular news shows. So maybe if CNN dialed back the opinion Zucker has put so much emphasis on these days and put a focus on actual news during prime time it would create a good point of difference with MSNBC and Fox.

They did that for decades and its no longer is a financially viable strategy unfortunately. Social media has accelerated the fact that most people check their phones and move on in the evening rather than sitting down to watch hours of news in the evening with a person sat in the newsroom at a desk. Its no longer financially viable because the viewing audiences are so tiny. Hence the rise of hosted/chat programming in the evening. CNN is never going back to that anymore as you continue to see discussion programming spread across the entire schedule rather than traditional newscasts. No matter the title of the programme the vast majority of it will be discussion rather than straight forward news. CNN is not funded with guaranteed money like the BBC or Al Jazeeera . It has to make money and what doesnt make money doenst make sense. I used to watch CNN and Headline News for hours. Those days are no longer. Its all discussion programming today. I only turn to CNN for major breaking news basically nothing else. And typically its just breaking political news. I was appalled how badly the covered the recent Israel conflict. They barely showed anything. They would dip in and out have the odd discussion here or there. But not blanket rolling coverage of yesteryear. Because it doesnt make money. No one watches and its expensive to do. So its cheaper to have a few talking heads in a studio or on Zoom/Webex talking about it. Sadly its not worth watching otherwise.
